It is currently 2:56 EST I am suffering from summer vacation sleeping patterns. I have a gig today and I need to be awake by 8:00 a.m.

Through years of coffee, vodka, sugar and sleeping pills I have rendered myself immune to all sleep related chemical properties.

If I dont fall asleep soon I will end up sleeping through my alam till 3:00 p.m. any tips for falling asleep?

Have you tried...well...physically straining things such as fornication, or masturbation?

Or you can always count Matt damons.

1 matt damon...2 matt damon...3 matt damon...4 matt damon...5 matt damon...zzzz

Get really cold then get under the warm blankets, coldness then warmth will make you really comfortable then you drop off, or try a hot shower, might work.

Watch aliens. Only actors worth mentioning my ASS.

He's in a lot of crappy movies then a few good ones, try the movie Dogma.

Im afraid I can't do that reaperman.

There are people sleeping a room over and we have thin walls.

Also the job I need to get up for is babysitting for a friend so they can go to work and pay the rent. So this is fairly high priority.

That would not help me sleep at all. In fact I don't think I'd ever sleep again after imagining that many Matt Damons.

Music. Listen to something relaxing, but not too ambient. Let yourself focus on it and your mind will stop running about like it tends to do when you are laying down doing nothing.

Your mind will start slowing down, just listening to something gives a nice distraction from trying to sleep.

And whatever you do, don't listen to Pendulum. You will never get to sleep.

Can't play music. Thin walls people in next room asleep who need to go to work in the morning to pay rent.

Hmmmm...what to do? Has to be quiet... is there anything in particular that makes you sleepy?

Barring that go out for a 20 min jog, you'll drop like a log after that.

The only door out of the apartment is big heavy and very close to the room full of sleepy day laborers. If I leave I wake them up.

Also exercise makes my brain think I need to be awake to continue exercising so nothing in that category.

Well, it's the best I got. Still, I recommend playing it very quietly then. Or use headphones.

EDIT: Have you tried just reading a book? I usually do that until I fall over on it.

Do something very tiring throughout the day. As a last resort, do jumping jacks until your arms shake with exhaustion.

SEX.

Do something METALLY tiring.

SEX.

Drink a little alcohol before bed.

Take a medicine that induces drowsiness.

If you had read the initial post you would have noticed I have built up an immunity to all sleep related chemicals.

Also physical activity sends a message to my brain that I should be less tired so I can continue said physical activity. I am wierdly efficient like that.

I have no time to prepare before hand as this is for right now not so much as in general.

Reading a book has a similar effect to physical effort, my brain thinks I need to be more awake to be more effective at said activity. I hate my brain.

Mmmk, I have a whooole list of insomnia cures but most will not work in your position. Let's see what does . . .

.Lie down and imagine it's time to get up.
.Introduce your eyeballs to clean, lukewarm (NOT cold, that makes your eyeballs feel like they're burning about five minutes after) water for a few seconds.
.Close your eyes and gently roll them upwards, like you're trying to see an airplane fly over without moving your head.

Good luck.

Sorry to dissapoint arbor but the bathroom sink is quite loud and connected to the hallway connecting both bedrooms.

And as for your lie down/close your eyes related techniques, first thing I tried.

Think about your day, slowly you will shut down. Might work.
