Title says it all
Is the game long? or short? if you played the game, how long were you playing it already?
Do you have something to do in the open world or its just like going around?
I also thought about getting Saint Row IV on 23.8(not for sure tho), and GTA V on 17.9(for sure) So I thought to wait for these games and not buy the sleeping dogs, but I'm not sure..

It is a fairly short game, around 12-15 hours on the main missions I'd say. However it has the best looking and most immersive city I've ever seen in the sandbox genre. Also I found the driving to be incredibly fun and the radio stations in the game are just fucking awesome. Overall it's worth getting.

At like £15 or so, sure. Combat's fun, if repetitive, driving feels good, Hong Kong's really well made and the story and voice acting are fairly enjoyable.

It's nice, hardest part of the game for me was getting used to driving on the left :p

It took me about 20 hours on my first playthrough. I did some side missions as well as the main ones and there are a lot of side missions. The hand to hand combat is great; it's basically the same system as the Arkham games but with much more brutal-looking animations. The hits have a lot more weight.

The driving is fun, too. It's like an arcade racer with some Just Cause 2-style vehicular combat. Hopping from car to car is really fun and shooting the tires out on a fast moving vehicle will make it trip over itself and explode. It is awesome.

The gunplay is OK, but the weakest aspect of the gameplay. It's cover-based third person shooting with slo-mo dives and shit. Mixing it with melee makes it more fun.

Visually, the game is gorgeous.

The story is pretty good, too. It's unexpectedly brutal, and even depressing, at times but still retains a sense of humour. It's not absolutely incredible but it had me wanting to find out more the whole way through.

Honestly, it's one of my favourite open-world games.

I thought it was one of the best games from 2012. Maybe it's my love for Asian culture (been to Hong Kong twice) and movies, but Sleeping Dogs just nails it. It has a lot of problems, but the gameplay, the driving, and the city makes it all amazing.
Are you serious? Driving looks so bad from what I've seen on videos

I played it for like 2 hours and haven't gone back to it yet. It was ok and competently made, just nothing that jumped out at me as incredibly unique or interesting. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance but nothing is compelling me to find out.

If you can deal with repetitive combat, pointless open world point A to point B fundamentals and voice acting that ranges from some of the absolute best to some of the absolute worst then sure it's probably worth picking up.

I'd say pick up GTA5 and SR4 instead, those games will give you fun stuff to do in between missions.

I quite enjoyed Sleeping Dogs. The gameplay is fun, the story was pretty good, the only thing Id fault it on was that I didnt feel like the sandbox part had much of interest outside of doing the collectables and side missions (but the collectables and side missions were fine).

Steam says I spent about 25 hours on it, which includes doing pretty much all the content (main mission, side missions, collectables) but not all the achievements.

I very much enjoyed it when I got it, but never went back to play more after I completed a 25 hour or so play through. So definitely worth it, I'd say, especially if the price has dropped, but you won't be getting anything spectacular. Its a slightly above average sand box in an interesting world with some solid characters and storytelling. And you get to drive on the left.

Pro Tip: Get a motorcycle and wheelie into oncoming traffic. Just do it.

Hahaha,I just got done playing it actually.Got a hell of a deal for it on Steam recently.I was looking for a similar kind of sandbox game after not being able to get into saints row 3.After 10 hours of Sleeping Dogs,I like it,I'm having a lot of fun so far. It's about as deep as those games as far as content, there's a lot to do in it.One thing that stands out is the emphasis on hand to hand fighting and developing the main character with new skills and abilities. It's not expensive and worth checking out.

Probably one of the worst games that I've ever played. The combat completely broke the game.

It was my game of the year last year and it absolutely deserves that honor. I am a huge sandbox game fan and for me Sleeping Dogs excelled in basically every aspect besides its gunplay which isn't used that much and instead the excellent hand to hand combat is used much more often. The story is your basic undercover cop story with the main character battling his idea of loyalty and who he should trust. I feel the presentation is where the game really shines though, Hong-Kong looks beautiful and all of the voice acting is top notch which is impressive since most characters are Asian and end up switching between English and Cantonese while reading their lines. Then main story doesn't take too long to complete but there are a ton of side missions and activities to keep you occupied and they all level up either one of your 3 experience bars, unlock new moves for you to use, or give other bonuses. As I said in the beginning Sleeping Dogs was my goty last year and I felt it was worth every penny I spent on it, you are doing yourself a disservice by not playing it.

Sleeping Dogs has it's moments. And the DLC looks like it improves on a lot of stuff, especially the silliness.

But I'd say that this year we are lousy with open world games. Unless you just NEED a new game or can land a copy cheap (like during the Steam Sale cheap), you might be better off waiting to see how Saint's Row 4 or GTA5 turn out. Both are looking to be really amazing. And Sleepy Dogs lies somewhere between those two. It's got some over the top stuff, especially with some of the DLC focused on zombie ghosts or Enter: The Dragon style island martial arts tournaments.

But SR does the open world silliness best in class, and GTA does the narrative driven character stuff best in class. Sleepy Dogs is second to two top tier titles.
