I just put on music/sports radio, and lie down until I fall asleep. If an hour passes, and I'm not asleep, I'll get back up, and try again later.

Are we to presume that chemical means aren't supposed to be considered? No being rocked to sleep with a rock?

Sometimes a warm bath helps me, but I usually go to the more effective and less time consuming antihistamine before that.

Trying turning off the computer. That's always a good first step.

Then you get in bed and read a book.

My solution to sleepless nights is kind of TMI, all a guy has to do is fap. Your body releases hormones that make you drowsy when you... finish. So yeah, I think you get the idea.

Tried that for about a good 2 hours.

As for the book thing, I have tried that and surprisingly, it doesn't really help me T.T

Well, first I read or play a game on one of my handhelds. Then I decide I have to look something up online...RIGHT...EFFING...NOW!!! Then I hop on here to see wtfs going on for a minute. That minute turns into an hour. I say "Oh shit." Turn off the laptop. Try to sleep for 25 minutes without success and start to read again. Rinse and repeat...Hey its time for class now!

Ususally lay down and try not to think of anything. or just let my mind wander.

The only bad thing about the latter is in the morning, if its somethign good, I'll try to remember what I thoght about.

Any David Attenborough nature program is usually more effective than a sleeping pill.

I take sleeping pills and usually I do some form of exercise before I take them
I have permanent early morning insomnia, most nights getting 5 hours of sleep, 6 is a good nights sleep. Without medication I only sleep for about 2 hours.
In your situation, go for a jog or choke the bishop, you've been stationary for too long, try reading as well. Staying on a screen is the last thing you want to do

I have four days of huge exams for the rest of the week, and I'm still up at midnight.

Although they are standardized, so it's not like I have to worry about not doing well.

Anyway, I usually just stay up until I get tired. Not really because I want to, but because it works the best and I have more time to do things that aren't sleeping or work.

Dipenhydramine works for me. I work nights and live in a house with a over-abundance of children, so it's almost a requirement for me in order to get a decent 'day' of sleep. Although IANAD and would never condone not following an actual MD's advice or not following the label information on any medication, if I pop anywhere from 100-250mg I sleep wonderfully for about 4 hours per 50mg. Beyond that I have to start worrying about body weight and calculating how much I can take before my heart starts doing things it isn't supposed to do =(

That totally works, now if only my fiance would clue in and figure out that the sooner I get to sleep the sooner she can too, and she can do that by taking care of me.

There's a remedy in my family which is tummy rubs, and or warm milk.

Sometimes watching a let's play late at night calms me down enough so I get tired.

If that doesn't work then I'm boned =P

I put on music and I just try to relax. Rarely does a night come when I just find myself COMPLETELY unable to sleep; usually when that happens I'm in some form of pain or something.

I slept as soon as I got home from school, until 8ish, so now I'm wide awake.

Whatever makes these days go by quicker, I guess. I'm just messing around the interwebz

Put on some music and masturbate those are the only two options I can think of that don't involve medication...

I find the best solution is not to play any games or watch anything for at least an hour and a half before I go to bed; read a book or a magazine, write a diary... I dunno, but it works for me. I try and do some form of creative writing for at least the last hour of my day; I find that mentally tires me out and that makes it easy to fall asleep and stay asleep.
