Today at school someone in my careers class was talking about how he has never been afraid of anything. Now previously watching these videos of Slendemran myself I remember how unnerving these videos were. Now the kid was scared and walked away before I could even show him the second video but I digress. The true point of this thread was just to bring up a fairly well known myth and see what you guys know or believe about this.

Now for those of you who have never heard of Slenderman here is a little blurb from Know Your Meme: The Slender Man is a mythical creature completely created on the Internet which has grown beyond its Internet Urban Legend status to become the target of pictures, fictional stories and videos about ?him?. He?s often depicted as a tall and thin silhouette, wearing black pants, a black suit with a white shirt, and a black necktie underneath. What is startling and creepy about this creature is that he is usually depicted with absolutely no visible face. Furthermore, he can stretch out or shortens his arms as well as he hides some kind of tentacles on his back.

Also viral videos that seem to be about Slenderman popped up in June 20 2009 the first video can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn59FJ4HrmU and yes this is the video I showed the kid at school today so please take caution they can be very unnerving so please don't look into if you scare easy.

So Escapist now I ask you. What do you think?

Oh goddamit, now I'm watching all the entries.
Also, if that guy was scared of this than he is probably a little girl dressed up as a ma-wait, no, scratch that. Little girls have more balls than he does.
Honestly the name creeped me put but from what I've seen so far, it pales in comparison to other freaky myths.

Looks like the Anonymous symbol with extra tentacles.
Your absolutely correct and that it is why it got so much attention so quick.

The fact it's pretty common knowledge this was created by the internet takes away any scare factor for me.

<youtube=q0fPoH2gWzc> creeps me out more.

I thought I saw the slender man while driving one morning, but thankfully it was just a very strange shaped tree.

Yeah, Slenderman is certainly one of the creepier myths out there. Particularly due to his unknown mythos and disturbing figure.

Especially since, the more you know, the closer he gets.

When your time comes... DON'T RUN.

Marble hornets was pretty creepy up until the entry with the masked man. At that point it really lost any scare factor it once had.

It is pretty scary, but imagine how awesome it would be if he were a super-hero?!

Long arms, tentacles that can change length, don't lie. That hero would be kickass.

I love the Slenderman myth and the Marble Hornest project. The capacity for innovation and the effort that has gone in to making it real is one of the things that I love about the internet.

I was watching one of those "live" ghost hunter programmes and sent a text in to say that I had seen an "oddly slender man" on one of the ghost cams. They didn't fall for it :(

For some reason the way you phrased it as 'oddly slender man' made me laugh out loud. What is this live ghost hunter program you speak of? I've never heard of that kind of thing before.
