Slight computer trouble

Lately I've gotten back into playing Team Fortress 2 again. However, every time I start playing, my frame rates drop to something like 9 fps and doesn't go back up. I've updated my computer and my graphics driver recently so I don't know what the problem is. Anyone know what might be up?

I use a Studio XPS laptop if that matters.

System Model: Studio XPS 1640
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
RAM: 4GB
HD: 250GB

Am I missing anything?

Edit: Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670

it sounds like the multi-core setting, that seems to be trouble if its enabled

go into settings and try turning it off and see if that helps

options, video, advanced then you should see it in one of the boxes
