OK...who's brilliant idea was it to put achievements in Brawl where you needed to play MULTIPLAYER for 50+ hours? Really. Who's the jerk that thought that up? I'm sick of destroying computers just to get a song which in turn is the last one so I unlock all songs trophy (all 258 songs baby!)

But come on....isn't it enough that I played this game for over 90 hours already? Do I really need to have specific time in seperate modes? Thankfully I got rid of the 100 hour multiplayer brawl unlockables.

Is it just me or is this achievement a little too much? I'm still only at 11 hours 48 minutes and I've been playing this thing nonstop for a while now.

If you have more people playing at a time, the time that each player plays is stacked (ie 4 people playing for 25 hours counts as 100 hours of multiplayer time). It's a good thing they made achivements like that completely unimportant (you just get a trophy).

Oy, i hate it when I had to kill 500 CPUs just so i could get a song. I didn't want to waste a golden hammer on it as it had a golden hammer behind it anyway.

wait...so I can just put 3 player....stock and just wait a about 10 hours and I'll have my 30 hours done with? Sweet! Cuz I have 3 GCN controllers. They won't pause the game if I don't press something long enough (connection with wiimote gets disconnected if you sit still to long.)

But I still need 400 more kills so I can get the 2000 kils achievement. I'll be doing that first.

Eh, if an achievement is too hard or boring, you can always just use a golden hammer on it.

For those kinds of achievements, I feel it's better to let them come naturally. Just play the game for long enough, and you'll eventually get it.

They put that kind of thing into Brawl in the first place so that we who play the game can get that smug feeling of superiority for actually wasting the time on them, so we can gloat at all of our friends who are attempting the exact same feat but doing it slower. It's kind of insipid, but kind of satisfying at the same time. Besides, as Rabid Toilet said, most of them are easily unlockable by just playing the game. The only ones you really need to go out of your way for are the ridiculously annoying "Clear 100-man this and that with every character" things that were ok in Melee, since there were 25 characters and you got a stage or something, but are just stupid in Brawl.

There are achievements...on Wii?
Well you can have a Wiimote for the 360.....what is this world comming too.

I like unlocking things so long as they are not real undie twisters. I think the "Come first in the GRAW leaderboard" is one that sticks out as being the most stupid Achievemnt.

Ever.

I agree that some achievements are really retarded (Like the the Medic Pack in TF2).

Achievements are a way to increase replayability. I don't have a problem with them in concept. I liken this kind of stuff to the grind in MMOs such as WoW. It's the proverbial dangling carrot promising good taste and a sated hunger to the horses of the world - in this case, gamers. Obsessive gamers can and will unlock even the most time-consuming achievements, which is why games include them. I personally think that there are times when a real insane set of achievements is in there to keep the gamer from getting bored. Achievements should not be a crutch to make the game fun.

Thing is, as long as you have a choice not to do it and still have fun with the game, it's fine. It's when it becomes required that there is an issue. As far as Brawl goes, I took one look at the board and basically Golden Hammered all the achievements that would require the most time, i.e. the beat this mode with all characters thing. My time is short these days and there's no way I need to waste all that time.

I only go out of my way to do achievements if theyre fun, like the agility orbs in Crackdown (& even there I dont spend too long looking for rogue ones). Otherwise I tend to just ignore them since I dont really care what my gamercard score thing has on it

Ever since Star Ocean 3, it's hard for me to see any achievements as being ridiculous.
Ha ha, agreed, agreed. Kill the final boss with a level 1 party, anyone?

Frankly, if it really bothers you that much, why worry about it? It's a just a music track/trophy, nothing of real consequence to the game. You're just racking up play time to get it, so just be patient. It'll eventually kick in after some party you had your friends over for. Or some day when you're just playing it for fun.

Acheivements will only be a detriment to your sanity as much as you let them.

It's not so much achievements for the Wii as achievements for a specific game. Once more, this proves that gaming companies need to stop biting off each others' ideas.

You can only reinvent the wheel so many times.
