I have not watched many episodes but definately enough to know what to expect.

From what i've seen of the show in my personal opinion it's pretty boring and lacks quite a bit of everything. For a show about superman or his early days (seasons vary) it should be pretty fun to watch but from what i've watched and observed it appears to be pretty poor in creating the feeling for me to want to watch more which is what all great shows do.

The thing that puzzles me is that as far my experiance of life has been so far i've met many people who like it and enjoy watching it and show a keen interest in the show. At first I thought that these people just didn't know superman like the way his original fan base knows which could be why they were so intrested but then it came to me that millions of people watch the show and they must really like it in order for them to want to keep watching.

My questions

Is Smallville really a good quality show ?

Have I missed something ?

What is your overall opinion ?

and to add some humour into the discussion should a Batman Series be created ?

Smallville sucks because Superman can't be done properly on a TV show's budget. They've dragged the show out for far too long, I mean the guy playing Clark Kent must be in his early thirties by now, he's supposed to be Superman by his thirties.
They can't make a Batman show because, one, copyright issues, and two, they'd probably focus the show on his pre-Batman training, which would be dead boring because Bruce Wayne is a boring little rich boy who can't get over the loss of his parents, whereas Batman is awesome.
And they did do a Flash show, it was pretty bad. Bottom line, you can't do a show about superheroes with superpowers on a TV budget.

Is Smallville still going?. Actually that doesn't surprise me, TV show execs like to milk the crap out of anything that has a fanbase so I won't be expecting much in terms of quality from the latter seasons of the show.

No to the Batman series as well because if we let a few shows through then before you know it the whole Marvel and DC universe will end up getting primetime shows and they will all suck horribly. You can't do superheros right on a TV budget.

Besides, it's not like the cartoons or the MMOs are going anywhere.

Smallville started out really good, in my opinion. It only got bad when they added Green Arrow and his band of crime fighters into the mix.. Now I don't watch it anymore.

Watch up to season 6 or so, it's a rather good show if you ask me.

This is the stupidest comment I've read today.

From what I've heard the last two series to air have been good, whereas the first 7 (count it; 7) were not so good.

The TV comment is ignorant however. Unless you meant only this version of Superman is rubbish because it's on TV, not that all things on TV are rubbish.

actually it's not a bad show, some of the shows are good some aren't. the writing is fairly consistent and they try to stick to the superman mythos, with small changes

i don't mind it, it's entertaining

as for a Batman series, i think it would suck cause i don't think it could be done as well
