The thing I've always found incredibly ironic in the videogames and violence debate is that the more serious the gamer, the more pacifistic they seem to actually be in real life.
Serious in which way? You mean dedicated? I don't even know if we can lay rules. You'll find hardcore nutz and cool hardcore gamers.

There was no doubt the real-life crime had virtual echoes. The ten-hour crime spree featured two robberies, nine carjacking attempts (three were unsuccessful), a handful of assaults and numerous reports of people having guns pointed at them. Police efforts to stop the one-man crime wave stepped up as the day wore on, culminating in a two-hour pursuit through the city that eventually led to the suspect's reportedly heavy-handed arrest.
2 hours and 3 stars at best?
Wimp.
Someone needs GameFAQs.
I wouldn't even give him that much credit. You KNOW he bought the guide.

The Calgary Sun, although seems trashy, and enquirer-esque, is a well read paper in Calgary. with the 'sunshine girl, and boy' brandishing thier pages like centerfolds, it suprising just how seriously this paper is taken. This is a city that listens wholy and often to a radio station called 'The Light' and sees itself as a very 'enlightened' city. funny thing is though the RCMP in calgary are well known throughout Canada as thuggish and goons. the fact that a police officer actually read an old article of this guy means that he likes the games to begin with, and was most likely trying to stirr crap anyway. consider the source is what im getting at.

Also, isnt it funny how this one reaction causesd this article to be spawned. and all these comments?

GTA is a punchline. Not much more. (aside from a fun sandbox to play in!!)

I always wondered why no one has tried the "art imitates life" angle, and video games, being art, imitate aspects of life themselves. Grand Theft Auto is certainly imitating real life crimes that occur in any city, just in a very exaggerated manner.
I personally don't think video games are art, but I thin the process of making them is art

Exteremely long and poorly though out theories? I have them all the time! I think it's down to the rise in films with Sharon Stone...
I think mine are due to the increase in homosexuals traveling abroad.
I've traveled out of the country a couple times, but I haven't traveled... a broad ...in years! I think that's what makes a homosexual. Well, the male ones anyway.
