Aside from the sewer levels, I have a feeling if this were introduced the Jarate in TF2 would actually start having quite severe psychological affects on people. :p

Yeah, overall this is probably not exactly a good idea.

Though, related note, it's purely psychosomatic, but often in games when it depicts rain, I tend to have the sensation of "smelling" rain. Again, probably more with audio cues than anything.

People already ***** about the useless Wii accessories. I don't see how this would be different.

Maybe to get it really low tech we could just have scratch cards that smell >_>

Awful idea but they used it in cinemas however may years ago and it failed then =P

Vanilla! I always imagine Xen smells like vanilla!

Unless I was playing a game set in a field of flowers and potpourri, I don't think I would want to smell my games.

Exactly my thoughts! Imagine Fallout 3 with this technology? I'm sorry, but I think this is the worst idea to come out of gaming, considering that the majority of games feature death. I don't want my nose to be accustomed to the smell of death.

As someone born without a sense of smell, I'm really apathetic about this project

So, a big old "meh", I guess

Thankfully, they didn't invent smell in games back when Conkers bad fur day came out. Anyone remember one certain singing pile of poo?

Conkers Bad Fur Day was the first thing I thought of when I read this, not too excited with the idea of smell-o-vision or whatever it would be called. I play mostly action games, rather not smell blood, corpses, sewers, monsters, aliens... etc. Not to mention big sweaty men on the few sports game I do play. >.<

Gimme Thought Control instead please!!! (while I'm talking about thought control, I'm not that impressed by motion sensitive control that seems to be all the rage right now)

I can't imagine how horrible some of the game puzzles would become with this technology. I mean, anybody that can remember when rumble technology first came out can remember how games started to shove in puzzles where you had to rely on the controller vibrating to find something or figure out a puzzle. People went BSI with trying to force it into games and the end result was almost always horrible and a major pain. Imagine when this comes out. Great, now I'll have to be an effing basset hound to track down that bad guy, or I'll have to match the correct perfume smell to pass through that door.

Wow, that would mean Diakatana would smell like it was a big steaming pile of....pants as well as play like one!?
