You're dating someone new and you like the heck outta them, how do you decide when it's appropriate to fart in front of them for the first time? My wife and I have been together for almost 10 years, but I still remember that fateful night when I decided it was time to break the silence. We'd been together for about 4 months and we were becoming very comfortable with each other. We were sitting together in classic sitting cuddle position on the couch watching TV, when I felt the pressure start to build. Up to that point, whenever the urge arose, I'd just excuse myself from the room and blow off some steam. For some reason this time it felt different. I wasn't scared of offending her or that she'd freak out. So, I took the plunge and let her rip. She lifted her head up off my chest and started to laugh. It hasn't been an issue since. Just for the record it's a 2-way street, she has no shame in front of me either.

Ok gentlemen, what are your prima cheese cutting stories? Does it always go as well as mine did, or do any of you have catastrophes to report? Live on methane brothers, live on!

Ummmm, huh? I always try and keep it in when I'm with anyone, whether it's a potential partner or just some random passer-by. Unless I'm walking away quickly. Does it really matter? If you have to fart, you have to fart, and your choice of company isn't going to stop that. Just treat it as something natural, which it is, and you'll be fine...

I was dating my first girlfriend for a few months before I accidentally farted in front of her for the first time.

She slapped me, punched me in the balls, told me I'm a useless waste of space, and then proceeded to leave me and make a website about how much of a pervert I am.

... Kidding, in case you couldn't tell. Except for the first part, about me farting. It's a natural occurence. My philosophy is this:

the longest relationship ive been in lasted for 9 months, 4 of those we shared a bed, but i never felt close enough to her to let it rip, i think thats why i it never lasted.

also, emileeelectro, farts are very romantic, when a guy farts in front of you its the deepest and honest sign of love there is.

On topic, you really need to learn how to keep it in. It's difficult and requires practice, but it'll turn all your farts into whispers. Which is a hell of a lot more acceptable than PFFTTRRRRRRTT

Just do it, most of the time the thought over outcome is much worse than in reality. Always remember they do it too and most likely find it humorous.

Adding to that idea: my last girlfriend and I had a running compilation to see who could be the most creative with farting on the the other person. That started only after a couple of months too. Needless to say, it was an odd relationship.

I always tried my best to hold it in when I was around my girlfriend: it actually used to hurt. My stomach would be grumbling and groaning and she'd always ask "are you hungry?", just used to say "no, no, just gets a bit noisy sometimes" could hardly say "No love, actually I'm dying for a fart but the noise this ones going to make could wake the neighbours".
Anyway; was in her room one day when we both got up to go downstairs, I trod on a hairbrush or something, bent down to pick it up and accidently let loose the longest, squeekiest fart i've ever heard. I could barely look up, but when I did, she was crying from laughing. Then the smell hit and she grabbed my arm and ran down the stairs - kinda like you would if you heard the bombs had been dropped.
She farts around me too now, with a bit of gentle encouragement.

Meh, I try not to. As for my partner, he farted in front of me for the first time accidently and since then he claims that he doesn't know they are coming. Under the covers is the worst, it's the only time he gets bashed for it and I sleep on top of the covers, even if it's cold.
