I can assure you that this exhibit will not be a catalog of what is most popular but, rather, what fits the exhibit intent wit regard to the evolution of the video game medium as an expressive one. As for the inclusion of an Oddessy or not, we are just getting started on the details. However, I am friends with Ralph Baer (here is a clip of me and Ralph playing on the Oddessy prototype (Brown Box) at his home in Mass. http://mediacast.sun.com/share/ChrisM/PlayingAgainstRalphBB.mp4) and know that I will be examining the massive possibility space of the industry for the exhibit. In January, the PastPixels.com site will go live with a place for discussion and comment.GothmogII said:About time... Though, I wonder, if in general exhibits are set up by people who have an interest in a certain thing, be it art, history, literature, fashion or technology etc. Will the same be true for this?
Or is it doomed to end up a tepid selection of what popular consciousness considers to be the 'standout' examples of videogaming? From Pac-Man to Mario, with possibly some 'modern classics' to balance things out. -_^ Who knows, if we're lucky they'll throw in a Magnavox Oddessy or a Tennis for Two machine? Pheh.
Thanks all for the support!
