I've been working on moving to Illinois from Colorado for the past... four months or so? After wrangling with my manager to even get him to start the transfer process for my job, he himself got transferred to another store.
So I went to the district manager and asked him to get it taken care of. He emailed the information to the wrong place, so it took me ages to get any information from the manager I want to work for.
Then, after finally getting a chance to talk to her, she confirmed the transfer tonight. We're filling out the paperwork in the morning. But the girl who was supposed to drive with my roommates-to-be to pick me up out here and bring me back to IL is going to be out of town for the next two months, so there's going to be one person making the drive alone unless I can convince my current roommate to do some schedule juggling.
Life isn't one damn thing after another, it's one damn thing over and over again. Edna St. Vincent Millay said that, and I'm convinced it's true.
So, for discussion value: how do you handle setbacks in plans?
(Bonus: If you live somewhere in Illinois near Lombard/Villa Park/Rosemont and want to save a fellow Escapist's hide, contact me, for the love of Souplex.)
