If it were a Solid Snake game, I'd feel David Hayter would be more essential. I don't think it'd be the end of the world if they used someone else, provided the new guy did a stellar job.

Aside from some lines coming out sounding slightly cheesy, David Hayter was outstanding as Snake in MGS1 especially; but it's something I felt was gradually breaking down over time, and midway into the series it started sounding more like a forced impersonation of Snake than the real deal.

I wouldn't mind either way. You at least know what you'll get with David Hayter; and even though the voice hasn't sounded as natural recently, he remains a really solid VA. He may even show this time that he hasn't really lost the voice.

As a life long MG/MGS fan i dont think i could handle this. Would be a deal breaker. I understand if its personal or time conflict reasons but that man IS snake.

David Hayter is the voice of the goodguy Snakes, that's not going to change anytime soon. If it did, I'd be done with the series, perhaps a bit petty but it's still true.
Have you played Peace Walker? I wouldn't call Big Boss a 'good guy' in that game. Especially at y'know...the ending.

I never did like Hayter THAT much, always preferred the Japanese voice to snake, until I played MGS4. He was bloody brilliant as Old Snake and shone when compared to the Japanese voice. Even now when I replay the games I play MGS1-3 in Japanese and the fourth in English.

While it wouldn't be the same without David's voice behind the character I would still buy the game provided it is on PC or 360. I'm almost regretting not getting a PS3 now.

David Hayter is Snake; there's just no two ways about it. It's the damn rules.

What does Snake have to say about this?

Maybe Big Boss is old enough in Ground Zeros that they'll get Richard Doyle (who voiced him in MGS4) to voice him instead?

Good. Now huge fans of MGS will feel how I feel when it was announced that Michael Ironside will not be returning as Sam Fisher :( Broke my heart.

How bad were those films? i cant believe i watched the second one knowing how bad the first one was.
Well, actually, the second one is a lot much better than the first one, it was less campy, but equally ridiculous, the major difference was David Hayter himself spicing things up a bit :)

This would be for MGS what Kevin Conroy mostly retiring from Batman is.

BATMAN DOESN'T SOUND RIGHT NOW AND NEVER WILL! AND NEITHER WILL SNAKE! AND THE PEOPLE ON MY FACEBOOK JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THE HURT!

*Runs and cries like a little girl*

(The worst part, that's only a slightly satirical response, but no matter how much I resist it, a large part of me feels that way.)

Wouldn't mind the guy who did the voice for Big Boss in MGS4. I think this is a perfect chance for him to take that role considering Naked Snake is now a completely different person.

And David Hayter should voice Solid Snake if they evre decide to remake the game about Outer Heaven

Richard Doyle? Yeah, given how old Vic Boss er, Big Boss looks in this game, it's understandable why he might be doing it over Hayter. Also Hayter said he wouldn't really want to voice anybody like Old Snake again because it did murder to his voice. Not to say I still wouldn't feel broken by his absence. T.T

MG1 & 2 remakes with modern tech? I'd do something stupid and violent for that.

They really should remake MG1 and 2 considering how important they're suppose to be

Should add more content and backstory that fleshes out the story as a whole

That's exactly what I was thinking. I honestly wouldn't mind so much if that's the route they took.

Besides, not that many people are going to rage that Big Boss all of a sudden sounds suspiciously a lot like The Fury.

There are some characters who's voices are simply irreplaceable. If they go along with a new voice for Snake they may as well reboot the franchise because it just won't be the Snake we all know and love. That voice is just too iconic and recognizable to be replaced.

While I think David Hayter pretty much is Snake I could live with a different voice actor. I am not saying that I would like it its just that it would not stop me from buying the games. I would still be really pissed off about it though unless it was Richard Doyle. The new voice actor would have to do an absolutely blow me away amazing job though to even compare.

I think if they replaced him thats really the only way they could go without pissing off a ton of fans.

Exactly, I stopped playing and traded in my copy of lego batman 2 for the horrible Joker (seriously it was like fucking adam west batmans joker) Mark Hamill Is the only one to voice the Joker in any game or cartoon, and David Hayter is the only one who can voice Snake( be it solid or naked)
