Well Escapists, here I am at 1:40 am, writing the transcript to an oral presentation I have to do for my English class about the film Finding Forrester. The transcript is due later today. We were given less than 48 hours to do this by an English teacher that I once thought was pretty alright, y'know?

Anywho, enough complaining. My point is, if I accidentally wake my parents up I am in for a lot o' shit. I'm asking you a question: have you ever done something like this? Trying to be silent whilst working for fear of retribution, maybe snuck back into your workplace after hours to get something finished, or to do something? Tell me, so I don't go insane while writing this up.

Well, one time I had to pick the lock on a computer lab at college in order to get in to use one of the workstations at 3 a.m. to finish up a project I'd just remembered was due the next day...had to work in troglodyte mode (definition: working only by the light of the monitor) as well to avoid security spotting me.

Yup, once I had left a tech project on the history of digital entertainment all the way until one day before it was due in, and I had to do a 40 page project over night. I was up until 5 am. Got it done though, and received a good mark.

I write my reviews [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.182033-Pimppeter2-and-Domble-present-The-Knuckleduster-Mass-Effect-2] in class, so I always have to sneak work.

Sneaky sneaky.

Perhaps I am just old fashioned but...pulling an all nighter to get some school/college/uni work isn't a thing parents should be pissed at you for. OK maybe it would have been better if you had managed time better - but you didn't. And in some cases the act of writing a document under pressure can mean that you don't waffle on about crap and actually write a better paper.

Well when I used to do it my parents would have been angry for leaving it so late. They had a policy on me getting work done so it wasn't rushed. Personally I work better at night, and couldn't stand doing actual work in the afternoon.

I'm bad for leaving things to the last minute too, but I always get them done. Don't think I've handed a paper in late. Well not recently anyway.

You're the man now, dog.

And no. I don't really procrastinate, nor will I sacrifice any sleep in favor of coursework.

I'd consider that to be the opposite of old-fashioned. When I think of old-fashioned behaviour I think of the traditionalist "do all the work instantly!"

...Everytime one of these topics come up, I can never think of anything.
I've always done homework in class when I had time. And once I read A Series of Unfortunate Events late at night under the covers. That's all I can think of.

Once or twice. The last time i was up at 3 am trying to finish a speech. Then I remembered I was leaving school for Tafe at the end of the semester (midyear) anyway. So ALT+F4ed and played counterstrike til 6 then spent the speech just having fun and making stuff up.

The reason I didn't do it last night is because I had a crapload of homework then, that was due today. The reason I didn't do it earlier tonight is because I had a massive project due tomorrow, as well as extra homework from such subjects as Maths and Chemistry.

I mean, sure, I definitely could manage my time better, but maybe my teacher coulda given us all more time to do this oral transcript. The other English class got two fucking weeks to do it, we got less than 48 hours. A tad unfair.

I am beginning to believe it is physically impossible for you to actually make a post without linking your reviews somewhere.

I "broke into" my University departments computer lab in my final year to finish my Dissertation in my final year.

"Broke into" is a bit strong, as the only lock after hours that needed to be by-passed if you were a Student (and had keycard access to the department) was prying open some sliding door and poking a stick to the lock.

About as close to being OT as I can get.

I agree! Yes you parents will be pissed that you haven't done it in better time but surely they should be thankful that you are trying to get it done now rather than handing it in late because you were 'scared to wake someone up'

Anyway..... nope i haven't done this, i am generally quite an organized person *Engage Smug Mode* but don't panic about it, and GET BACK TO WORK :p

I used to sneak work/play all the time. Say goodnight to everyone, wait five minutes, sneak downstairs and do whatever. Usually to get a couple extra hours of gaming, but sometimes to finish up work.

I am in favour of the "If you truly wanted this homework done you wouldnt have given it to me." approach when it comes to homework that you dont even get graded on.

Or a really awesome excuse if it is important work that you didnt do. :D
