Sniper Elite V2 is Completely Free on Steam Right Now

You can add Sniper Elite V2 to your Steam library free-of-charge until 10 AM PDT, June 5.

Here's a great way to promote your game's sequel - give away it's prequel for free. That's exactly what developer Rebellion is doing for its tactical shooter series: Sniper Elite. From right now until 10 AM PDT, June 5, you can hop on over to Sniper Elite V2's Seam page [http://store.steampowered.com/app/63380/] and add the game to your Steam library absolutely free of charge, to keep forever, as part of the developer's promotion of the upcoming Sniper Elite V3.

Sniper Elite V2 was released on PC back in 2012. It's a lengthy game for a shooter and offers traditional multiplayer and cooperative play online, which is always welcome. It was met with mixed-to-positive reviews but hey, free is free.

As for the upcoming title, Sniper Elite III will launch on the PC on June 27 worldwide - giving you just under a month to get pumped for it with its prequel. The PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions will be released at retail and digitally in Europe on the same day, while console gamers in US will have to wait until July 1.

You can save 20% off the game [http://store.steampowered.com/app/238090] by pre-ordering it now.

We're sorry we got to this one so late, but as of writing, you still have around eight hours to quickly add it to your library. Go now!

Nice one. I enjoyed the old Sniper Elite game, so this is a nice little gift.

Great headsup. Thank you.

I think I played the original a few years ago but then never bothered with the sequels. I guess I have no excuse to not play it now even if I suck at being a decent sniper.

And not only is the game free but it has trading cards, so you can actually make money (albeit a few pennies) by selling them on the community market. Which is nice.

Its worth it purely for the bullet cam. Its been improved a hell of a lot for 2 and even more so for 3.

aaaaaand people are now angry. The forum is getting filled with people saying how Russia were the good people in WWII and how America was evil and is still evil because they made the game.

yeah, you heard me right. America is somehow worse than Stalin and Sniper V2 is "American propaganda."

Some of these comments I am reading seriously believe the US made this game to "rewrite history."

I swear, where do people come up with this stuff? A free game from America is suddenly propaganda directly from Obama himself?

I wonder what they must think of Wolfenstein.

Don't believe me? Here are two threads on it, before the devs inevitably delete them:

Un.Fucking.Believable. The amount of nationalistic hatred on the game is astronomical.

EDIT: threads on the subject are being deleted.
By the look of things, the offended parties appear to be ultra-nationalist Russians. It's to be expected from a country that banned Company of Heroes 2 and raises its children to believe they single-handedly won the "Great Patriotic War" thanks to the Benevolent and Wise Comrade Stalin.

What's that? Originally allied with Hitler? War crimes and atrocities? Katyn forest? SMERSH barrier troops? Letting the Warsaw Uprising fail? Never heard of those. Must be western lies and propaganda to discredit Perfect and Glorious Motherland.[footnote]Obligatory footnote clarifying that I'm sure not all Russians believe this.[/footnote]

In any case, I've never played the game, but I've been curious about it for a while after seeing a few Youtube videos of it. This provides the perfect excuse to try it out.

I wonder what they must think of Wolfenstein. Or any Battlefield or COD game ever.

Soviets were almost just as bad as the Germans, I hate how people still forget the atrocities both sides did during the war, Soviets especially.

Just finished playing it through family sharing a couple of days ago too. It really is a good game once you get past the often retarded AI, and the tanks which can feel your bullets and tell EXACTLY where you're shooting from.

EDIT: I'm trying to own it for myself, and it's telling me I do, but it only shows up on my friend's family sharing section. Hmm...

The ONE time I have no access to Steam (on holidays)

Looks like i have to install Steam on this awful little laptop to get it, since I have people who want to play it co-op.
There's a Steam app for your phone, can register it to your account through there.

Every side committed atrocities during the war sadly, it is just that some of those sides won the war in the end.
I dont get why it offends people so much...its a video game a work of fiction that does not claim to be true.

Ah well who cares FREE GAME.

The DLC isn't free! It's an outrage, having to pay after getting the game for free!
Just kidding, I got that game now, will wait for the game to go UP in price to say 75% off to pick up the DLC sometime in the future. Can't go wrong with a free game.
