Is incredible. There was a local buy 1 get 1 free at a Play and Trade in my area the other day on xbox 360 games and I went with the purpose of getting Red Dead Redemption and just picked up Alan Wake on a whim as my free title and I can honestly say I enjoy Alan Wake much more than I do Red Dead. Not to say I don't like RDR but Alan Wake was just a fun and enthralling game for me to play -- one of the best purchases I've made in a while. A shame it doesn't seem like it's very popular as it didn't even make the xbox live top 20 on its release week.

Was it the longest game ever? no. But even if I didn't get it for free, the amount of fun I had with it would have been well worth $60.

Alan Wake is hands down my game of the year thus far. I don't think anything is going to beat it for me either. Watch the Bright Falls live action series prequel on youtube if you have the time. Its a fun little series that helps expand the story a bit.

Wasn't it announced like 3-4 years ago?
If so, at least they didn't pull a Duke Nukem.

Yeah, the only bit of it's history that I can recall was the constant delays and lack of showings at E3.

Even so, I'm glad it worked out for them - like you said, would have sucked to see it turn out like DN:F.

Glad someone else out there enjoyed it as much as I did. Not too thrilled about the ending ("we wrap it up nice and neat" my eye!), but hopefully that translates into another game. Wonder what co-op would be like in it...

It is my favorite game of alltime, ever.

I have never enjoyed a game more, and the discussions had between my girlfriend, myself and my co-workers over the ritch and interesting ending lasted for days.... Which is something not even a movie has managed to get out of me in YEARS.

I recall that it was first announced in 2004 with a slated release (back then) for late 2005.

Seconded. This has to be my favourite game so far this year. I've completed it 3 times, once for every difficulty and that's something I only ever do with games I really like. Red Dead is good, but Alan Wake keeps pulling me back despite having played it so many times now.

Great game.

I try not to play more than an hour of it at a time tho. I know it's a short game, so I wanna get more time out of it by playing it in short spurts.

I am only halfway through as of now, but if it ends the way I think it might..... I will be really disappointed in the story. So far, so good tho!
Yeah I tried to play one episode a night. The episodes are quite long and because there's six of them it makes the game last almost a week. Plus the episode structure makes it like settling down to watch your favourite Tv show which is cool too.

Then again there is so much more to see and realise on repeat playthroughs that the length doesn't really get in the way for me. There are several things I missed that I noticed on my second playthrough, especially references to later events and even character interactions and reactions. Barry still makes me laugh whatever he does!

As for the ending... It could have been worse, I think the upcoming DLC will bridge the gap between this "season" and the next "season" as they call it. Read: season = game.

It was a really good game. Not a masterpiece, when it came to gameplay, but I will safely say it has one of the best game storylines of all time. However, i would only recommend buying it when the DLC comes out, because its rather short.
