You know what solves this issue of yours? Two things would work just fine.
1. Get used to touchscreens. They're ubiquitous now. Even the freaking timer we've set outside to turn the lights out after 11 PM runs on a touchscreen. My treadmill runs on a touchscreen. My clothes dryer has one. If your problem involves their detecting accidental brushes as actual commands - get over it. It's a small issue. I've been using an iPod touch for years and I've never had any problems whatsoever with it.
My one and only gripe is that locking the device while a YouTube video is playing interrupts playback.
2. Learn *not* to make demands for Christmas. I've stopped asking for things around 2000, and I can tell you my Christmases have been all the more awesome for it. Ask for something practical, or ask for your friends and family to find things you'd be grateful to have around. Don't specify anything. Leave it as wide open as possible. I've gotten books I never would have thought to ask for because of it, along with items that solved problems I'd learned to live with instead of solving.
This year, I got a cash deposit in my account along with a new desk chair. I'd forgotten just how beat up my previous one was. You have no idea how happy I was once I got to see it. I've got some scrip to spend on a few things in the Steam sale, and I've got a leather-upholstered desk chair to rest my butt on. That's it.
Most awesome Christmas Ever.
