The guy's dead, Obama gets due credit, and otherwise the entire world will go right on completely missing why we've been in Afghanistan all this time DESPITE an official previous proclamation that we weren't there just to nail bin Laden.

Hint: it's about whacking the Taliban as a whole. And hopefully stabilizing Afghanistan, like we SHOULD have done in the Reagan Era when we helped drive out the Russians and then left the huge political vaccum that the Taliban then built itself up to take over in the first place.

The people celebrating his death as if it were the goal of the war on Islamic extremism are, in my opinion, completely missing the point. He is now just as much of an icon, if not more as a result of him becoming a martyr. The ideas and methods he represented and employed are not going to disappear along with his consciousness.

It wasn't just Bin Laden's charisma, it was that of all the militant Islamic leaders. That shit up on wikileaks also helps to stir anti-American sentiment.
