Can't bring himself to feel happy that an old man who has been literally hiding underground for the last 10 years is dead, even if that old man is Osama Bin Laden. First and foremost, this is a revenge killing; justice would have involved a trial, and preferably, life in solitary. Second, we've just created the martyr to end all martyrs. Third, the terror threat level was raised today for a reason. This is a historic moment, but I can't call it a happy one.

Did he seriously just say that people who believe in peace and human dignity should be rejoicing? No cognitive dissonance there.

As you can see from the posts, I'm not particularly happy about this. Yeah, he's dead; so what? The only thing it's going to change is how angry Al Qaeda is with us, and they were mad enough already. We need to learn the difference between justice and revenge; getting your enemy's head on a pike is too close to Osama's style.
This has done little good. And the US is going to continue with it's ridiculous security theatre, that's now permanently entrenched. Nobody's going to find it any easier geting their name removed from erroneous "no-fly" lists, security personnel at airports are still going to be ramming their fingers up a very uncomfortable location, America is still going to continue it's jingoistic adventures around the world... But hey, we shot this one guy, so it's all ok now! So, can we arrange to get Bush Jr shot too now? Along with all his former advisers? After all, they've caused far more death and suffering around the world than Al-Quaida could ever have dreamed of doing.
