Nah, I don't worry about all the meta- stuff. It's enough for me to keep up with the regular game and win with the coolest looking Pokemon I can find.
I've been to one Pokemon tournament before, but I can't say I enjoyed it overmuch. I wasn't competing, but just watching all the players there getting overly serious about all their meta- stuff bored me. I'm guessing they were probably only one type of meta-gamer though, so good for you if that interests you, but I'll pass.

I enjoy reading about potential strategies but a combination of laziness/useless/internet connectivity has stopped me from ever taking part.
I went to go watch the regionals last year, but more for the shiny Eevee than anything else. I'll probably go watch again this year, but it depends on what they're giving away.
