Off course i'm happy. Song which is purposely silly/ridiculous > Song that has no value and sung by a "guy" who sounds like a girl.

While The Gangnam song itself may not be really nice it is catchy and the clip is funny, it had all the ingredients to become an internet hit.

No I don't understand the appeal in anyway. I don't find the video offensively stupid or anything, just... kinda lame. Maybe worth a smirk or so but that's it.

I generally enjoy watching garbage, B movies and terrible Youtube videos that make no sense at all and such, but this is something else. The choreography is awful, I have no idea what he's saying, the guy looks like a total asshole, I could go on.

People I know, however think the video is funny. How is it funny?

The guy is worldwide famous though so good for him.

Also, the choreography and asshole-ishness is justified because he's mocking upper-class people in Korea. (Lyrics can be Google'd.)

I like the song. I don't think it perhaps deserves to be the #1 most watched music video in the world, but really, I see no reason to complain. Popular doesn't mean the best, and the son is at least good. Obviously the lyrics go way over my head, but I really like the energy of it. It's the most pumped up, happy-go-happy, dance till you drop, let's go crazy catchy song I've ever heard.

I'd still like to know how "Baby" got to be the #1 video in the first place. The video is meh, the song is...catchy, at best. Both the song and the video are overly slick (high production values, IOW), but not in a cool way. I could understand it if the video had a cool hook, but it doesn't.

I'd say PSY deserves the top spot for a little while.

I'm a fan and purveyor of absurdism. See my avatar? I find it endlessly hilarious, although I've received tons of urine-stained terror-mail over it. Likewise, I've watched Gangnam Style repeatedly, and every time he howls at the girl's rear end, or when the elevator opens, my WTF meters overload and I burst into laughter. I get it's not for everyone, but that's certainly one of the main reasons people watch it.

People are easily hypnotized. The video itself is alright, nothing inherently wrong with it other than it being designed to tap into that ol' beat-hypnosis that everyone laps up.

I think if 800 million people instead watched a video of the US drone policy or Israel's use of white phosphorous on civilians, then I'd be more content with it.
