Firstly, I dont understand why some people say this game is awesome, and some people say its shit, seriously how can a game 'score?' differentiate in a review so much.

Secondly why is it that the game is critised alot by COD fanboys... I hate the fact people compare it with COD, It is a completely different game.

Opinions? A review is down to the writer's personal opinion on the game and therefore is bound to be different between different people.

Plus some people like to hate on popular things so they feel unique.

Yes, it annoys me too that they are always being compared just because they are both popular

Im so glad you said this, I know exactly what you mean.
Sometimes I feel I can't blame these people. The amount of people that gush over shallow First Person Shooters like CoD and MW2 really do make me a little sick, espeically considering that the games are little more than either online gang rape or verbal abuse.

Halo: Reach however is not the shallow, backwards game that Modern Warfare 2 doesn't even bother to pretend it's not. It's the first Halo game I've seen which is actually attempting to really reach the audience who weren't captivated by the apparent 'badassery' of Master Chief in all his cardboard cut out glory.

The 'people hating on popular things' argument and pointing it out has becoming a cop out for fanboys. I'm not saying that it's not there and I'm not saying that everyone who points it out is a fanboy, but it's certainly not present enough to be a generalized in such a gross manner.

Things are popular for a reason... while I completely despise MW 2 and it's broken-ness, I can still admit that it is a good game.

Unfortunately, most 'haters' don't share my philosophy and will claim that something is an absolutely steaming pile of crap if they don't like it. You can not like something that's good... it's ok to not like things that are good.

You're assuming that popular equates to good. By the logic of popular = good, games like Farmville must be leagues better than the likes of Shadow of the Colossus or Penumbra. I'm sorry, but high sales does not equally make a game good in any way.

For the first question. Because some people really liked it and others not as much.

And the Second question. Because the CoD fanbase has a good chunk of babies who get all pissy when a new popular FPS comes out. Shame because it makes the rest of the fanbase (and the game) look bad.

Then again these are just guesses I'm making.

People have different opinions all the time.

Personally, I think that most of the people who ***** about Halo Reach sucking either havent played it, or are the type of person who says EVERY game sucks... but continues to play it none-the-less.

A lot of people have fell-out of love with Halo after Halo 2, mostly because 3 did to innovation what a baseball bat does to a knee cap - they brokeded it. It was pretty stagnant: a noble game with good intentions, a personal favorite in my books, but it just didn't hold up.

Reach has really breathed some fresh air into the series, fixing what Halo 3 did and mimmicking Halo 2 (even down to the maps).

Some people simply don't like it because they liked Halo 3 better: they liked smacking people in tight corriders rather then shooting them at a distance. Some people dismiss Reach because the story wasn't a huge twisting confusing 'epic' that BioWare produced, some people dont like how the Multiplayer ranks work, etc, etc. Some people felt Reach did not meet their expectations.

It all boils down to personal opinion. Personally? I think Halo has some of the finest First Person Shooting in gaming. I loved Halo 1, 2 and 3, and I think Reach is the best so far. Then again, Im the type of person who will argue, tooth and nail, that Team Fortress 2 is complete and utter garbage thats bogged down by too much "OOH SHINIES!", but thats another arguement for another day (I hear a mob of people yelling outside my door, "HE DISSED VALVE, GET HIM!!! SHOW HIM TO HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION!!!")

Simplified; Reach is pretty much like a "Best of Halo" collection. So if you like the "best of Halo", then go for it. If you never liked Halo, this game really won't win you over. Thats what this entire game boils down to.

As for the game getting flamed by CoD fans... This game doesnt feature unlockable weapons, upgrades, etc that they LOVE to take advantage of. This game is less about Camping, more about moving. You don't get as many 1 shot kills, theres no quick-scoping, commando pro, noobtubes, AC130s (all the really cheap stuff).

Halo is less about Carnage, more about Team Work, You dont get as many bullshit weapons, 1 shot kills, etc. Call of Duty, on the other hand, is just pure choatic fun. Unless you're playing search, you're team-mates are next to worthless. While they are both FPS's, there two differnt play styles of FPS's.

I do not equate popular to good... however, things that are popular are popular for a REASON. There is always SOME redeeming quality to something that makes it popular. Whether or not you like that redeeming quality is a matter of opinion. Whether it's Twilight, Farmville or the next craze.... there has to be at least something to it for it to garner that kind of attention.

Items typically described as good may not necessarily be popular and that could be due to any number of large factors... whether they are too complex for mainstream adoption, not marketed well, etc, etc. The two do not go hand in hand and that is not what I was implying.
