Everyone gets depressed at some point or another. It can be small, it can be large. How do you cope with it?

Mine is music, friends, games, the normal stuff. But thats starting to fall through.

I embrace it.
Go to bed, turn off all the lights draw the curtains shut out all noise and lie under the covers. After a few hours I begin to feel a bit silly, reason it out in my head and then go back to the world feeling a lot better.

Either that or get on my bike and cycle around till I'm exhausted, it clears your head and the endorphines make you 'feel' happy.

I get on with life. That is not to say I only get a little depressed at the times but I see no use is being sad or crying so I don't waste my time with it.

Meh i embrace depression, its not gunna go away until i move so why fight it.

However i do find that playing games and just doing anything that gets my mind off of it helps.

Sports mostly. They stop me from thinking about anything other than what's going on at that particular moment. And the endorphins keep me happy for a while afterwards as well.

Also, I've recently found that talking with a friend about it helps, before I never felt like I could talk to my friends about it, now I've got someone that I can talk about anything with.

I'll either just watch a funny movie to get my mind off it or I'll play something really scary.

Watch any of the following on my own with a beer or five:

Vanishing Point, Transformers: The Movie (no, the good one with Orson Wells), any of the first 3 Indiana Jones/Die Hard/Star Wars films, The Fifth Element or South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut.

Do any of the previous with friends.

Alternatively, playing Left 4 Dead on expert tends to blank one's mind for 2-3 hours.

Drown it out with music, emo-style :D
Endure it.. although at one point you'll most likely crack so it's not advisable.
Talking to a friend really helps it get it off your chest.
Or taking a long walk, going nowhere in particular so that you can think without stress.

What do you mean FIRST three Indiana Jones/Star Wars films? There were only three.

Just three of them.

ONLY three.

No more.

Anyway, the way I cope is by watching lots of daft, light-hearted American sitcoms, like Friends and Scrubs. That, and forcing myself to forget about the fourth Indiana Jones film and the Star Wars prequel trilogy...

That never existed...

Write down all depressing thoughts.

really, really helps.

One you've wrote them down, they stop floating around your head, and then you have the ability to get all shiney and happy again.

That said, i find theres a certain pleasure in depression if you have the right music and dont let it consume you. But thats probably just me.

I would give advice but I think my doctor is putting me on anti-depressants soo... :S

If it persists and even what normally works fails you maybe you should at least talk to someone, if not your doctor.

I'm kinda bi-polar, when I get depressed it's very extreme. Normally I just retreat into myself, music always helps.

Talking really does help, it just takes alot to tell someone about it.

First three of each. So no bald McLane fighting hackers, no geriatric Indy fighting aliens and no Star Wars prequels fighting quality control.
