Back in the days of Mewtwo, I was one of the hugest CoD fanboys I knew of. Then the game started to just blatantly piss me off (or rather, I noticed how much the game was already pissing me off), and I stopped playing.

Come Black Ops, and sort of the same thing happened. Although I have to admit, BlOps was a pretty big improvement over Mewtwo. At least in my opinion.

But I still found the game to be increasingly boring, and it still agitated me like MW2 did, I eventually stopped playing that, and told myself that I would skip MW3.

MW3 came out a few months ago, and, as always, it was heralded as if it were the second coming of Christ. I skipped out on it though, as it looked, sounded, and (probably) felt just like the last five CoD games to come out.

My friends and some of my family still got it though, and they keep telling me that it's a lot better than previous CoD games, etc. etc.

Of course, then I hear about how they didn't really cut some much hated things from the game or add some much wanted things, they just renamed them. This is part of what makes me not want to spend any time or money on it.

So, what I want to know is this: is this game really any better than other CoD games, and should I look into getting it?

Sure, I could just go test it out over at a friend's house, but let's be honest... common sense? From me? Pfft.

I played the survival mode with a friend, and I watched my little brother play the campaign. The verdict I've reached is that the game is basically the same as Modern Warfare 2. It feels the same, with some new kill streaks and scrambling the gun balance a little bit.

I actually commented on a friends facebook post just for the opportunity to call it Modern Map Pack 3.

Plus Infinity Ward didn't carry over Treyarch's running dive from Black Ops. Makes me sad, I loved diving out of windows to my death in Blops.

And I bet you felt clever.

@Topic, I enjoy it. MW3 is similar to MW2, but it's fun, the guns each feel different and survival mode is really fun. Also the SP has a really epic conclusion to the trilogy.

Overall, it's similar but fun.

That's what they all say.

Although to be honest everyone who I know of that played MW3 have returned it... something about saying it's the MW2. A friend of mine & I joke about it at times a la

Exceedingly. Mostly because that's what it is, and I'll be damned if I don't reserve my right to point out the obvious. I'm not saying it isn't fun, I'm just saying it's a glorified map pack being dressed up to look like a full game.

But I don't understand how the conclusion was epic. It was the same crawl, participate in not-so-quicktime event, kill badguy formula. <@.@<

These stale chips need more variety.

It's quite similar to MW2 (which makes sense) but it depends what you want from it Spec Ops (both Survival and Missions) are fun but don't last very long. The multiplayer can still make me go from joy to rage in a heartbeat. The story is still as blockbuster action movie as ever but I enjoyed it for that very reason. Basically, if you only want to finish the story/play Spec Ops, then give it a rent. If you want the multiplayer as well, buy it

It's a better game than Blops, but I liked Blops better.

They got rid of most of the ridiculous killstreaks (chopper gunners, dogs, RC-cars, nukes, etc.) and added new ones called support reactions where your killsreak actually carries over between deaths. The gun balance is better than Blops with people tending to use a variety of guns rather than spamming the AK-74u, although the Striker, Type 95 (they nerfed the M16 but added this much better version of it...derp) and akimbo FMG's are weapons of mass destruction. Noob tubing has finally been nerfed, no one uses it. Stopping Power, Juggernaut, Martyrdom, Ghost, Ninja, Commando, and all the other annoying perks are gone. Although I don't like the maps quite as much, they're better suited towards more diverse playing styles and game modes (you can actually snipe on most of the maps, unlike Blops).

Despite all these improvements, the game will still piss you off, like the series always has. Also, if you, like me, have religiously played every CoD's multiplayer since 4, you will get bored of it very quickly (I hit second prestige a few weeks ago and basically never want to see it again). Recommendation: try for a couple weeks before you buy, it might just be enough.

Hope this comment helps among the sea of mindless "CoD sucks hurhurhur retard" comments.
Yeah, it's very helpful. Thanks!

Seeing as my little brother has a copy for his 360, I might buy a couple months of gold and give it a go. Not expecting anything amazing, but I might as well try it if it's already here.

So a map pack has...

A new Campaign...
New Survival Mode
16 new maps
new guns
More Spec Ops missions
New Game modes...

Why does this sound like a sequel... Oh yeah... because that's what it is.

Maps, New modes, and new Spec Op missions that could have been in a map or expansion pack. Survival mode is just IW's response to Treyarch's Zombie mode. The "new guns" are just old guns, and most of the players in mp will just stick with which one is considered best by the community, making it moot. In terms of graphics and gameplay, MW3 brings more of the same. A new campaign would, of course, warrant a new game, that much is a given. BUT THE REST OF IT JUST HRRRRNGUUH.

Diving was taken out due to "balance issues," which I assume means that it kicked ass and had to go.

tl:dr I'm butthurt about the diving and thusly passed down judgement upon this "sequel." To me, it's more of the same. Fun, but I don't see any point in getting it.

But whatever, it's all there regardless of where it should be*.

*IT SHOULD BE IN A DAMN MAP PACK.

And MW3 isn't capable of splitscreen LAN games like Black Ops was capable of, which is pretty much just... eh.

Game-play wise, it's damn near Identical to black ops.
I've found that a few of my favorite game types were missing, but a new Co-op game similar to GOW's hoard mode was somewhat entertaining

As always, it comes with COD's pattern of adding more and more weapons, enough to the point that there's more in there than anybody could possibly need.

The campaign is of course, pretty much an interactive action movie, the plot is mediocre, but the action jumps from climax to climax, once again, in a pattern the series is famous for.

All in all, if you were to jump onto the series, or if you missed black ops, which brought in most of the improvements to the multiplayer, it would be a good Idea to get this.

But if you have BLops i wouldn't recommend MW3 as your next purchase.

I preferred MW3 over all others and do still play and enjoy it. The mechanics are the best over all, for the most part anyway; aim-assist still sometimes decides to take a time out when you least need it to. The hit-boxes are responsive and accurate, unlike Blops were you had to shoot a foot in front of the target, as if you had a trebuchet rather than a firearm.

I've also discovered that if you find the set-up that you do well with, and/or the most op set-ups, just use them, enjoy the game and disregard any ignorant messages you may receive.

Oh, and the attack helicopter might as well be a game pheasant for all it's worth.

I'm sorry I can't focus...Your avatar is destroying my mind.

Seriously though, I don't enjoy MW3 as much as I enjoyed MW2. I feel like its a graphical downgrade and that the game play has shifted so that long range combat is not possible without receiving a shotgun enema.
