I actually just canceled my account yesterday after about 3 years. It was a good game while it lasted, but the new expansion doesn't interest me at all. Plus, my free time is starting to fade away since I'm not in college anymore. As far as gameplay goes, it's a really smooth, easy-to-learn game, possibly to a fault. But the clincher was that I just didn't care much about the lore. My advice to you is to find an active, social guild. Makes the game a lot of fun.

As for me, I'm chomping at the bit for The Old Republic...

Oh yeah... me too, my friend. The WoW is really just a warm-up of sorts for TOR :)

I want to be pumped for TOR, but I think I have become too attached to my WoW characters to leave them now! I think playing two MMOs will be too much considering I'm going to have to make time for hours of Black Ops too!

A person who starts a topic with "I tried WoW" that didn't end with "and it sucked"? This is such a breath of fresh air.
I play it, and except for a few parts I'm not fond of (no problem, there's WAY more to the game) I love it. Getting WoW was one of my better choices, I do not doubt.
I wouldn't say I've ever been addicted to the game, per se, but there was a point not too long ago when I would play quite a bit more than was probably good for me, even to bhe point where I would neglect some important things... like eating, and substituting showering for a little extra deoderant.
I made friends pretty quickly and I have a fair balance of playing alone and with others, nobody I know in real life, though.
I started playing near the end of '07, a human mage, and didn't make my first alt until about a year ago, a blood elf death knight.

I played, but I started play Warhammer Online and I am enjoying playing that. I quit WoW like a year or 2 ago now, all my friends from Vanilla pretty much quit so I lost interest and stopped playing.

I use to be addicted to the Mage class. There is just something really appealing about being able to keep my mana and health up with conjured food and water and being able to fire fireballs at my targets. I use to be pretty good at it to.

It's a great game. Crazy polished. As for my own characters, while I don't currently play I've got a...

80 Mage
80 Resto Druid
80 Death Knight (but I don't really like the class. Sadly I didn't figure that out until I was 80)

I'm anxious for Cataclysm to come out for sure though and will resub for that to see all the new stuff. I have an on/off again relationship with the game. While I really, honestly enjoy it, I can only do the same raid over and over so many times. So what's going to happen is I'm going to devour the Cataclysm content, cancel, wait for new stuff, resub, do it, rinse, repeat.

For me it's the Teleport spells. It reeeeaaaaally spoiled me. My mage was the first character I ever really made a stab at back in Vanilla and having those portals just made the other classes nearly unbearable. In fact, I didn't even play another one until I could get heirlooms and earlier mounts to make it faster.

I play a Human Paladin on Nordrassil. I've run alot of the endgame WotLK content so I'm taking a break from WoW until Cata or when I feel like hopping back on.

I tried two different private WoW servers and got sick of the game when I realized everyone wants to play Horde; more specifically, everyone wants to play a Blood Elf Paladin. Woe betide anyone who picked any other class/race/faction. And no, I was not about to spend money on the Blizzard servers.

I went back to EVE, where the playing field is slightly (and I do stress that word) more level. At the very least, there are ways to avoid being ass-raped every 3 seconds.

When Stormwind is literally carpeted with skeletons, something is fundamentally wrong.

Ya, those were pretty sweet, granted though, my first attempt at WoW was an Orc Warrior during the launch of BC and I just got a port to Shathrah and made my home there. Then I just used the portals to get around.

But I will say, the ability to port anywhere without much of a cooldown wins hands down over a 30 minute wait to get from Orgrimar to Undercity without having to deal with the Zeppelin.

Good choice on troll shaman *fist bump* for the Horde!

It's not hard getting to level 20 or so within the first week of playing WoW now a days. It's level 40 lull that's the real test. It's where I stopped, but I'm planning to drop back into WoW for a little while after Cataclysum to see if they've made this section of the game more fun.

Ah, well, that makes plenty sense then. As an old school vanilla mage it felt like cheating the system. Sometimes I'd even go to zepplin ports and teleport myself to the other town while laughing at all the people "slumming it".

The mages are a little more balanced on the Alliance side. I mean, I understand that both sides have two different factions developing their technology, but would it have killed the Goblins to put in a faster and more effecient counter to the Deeprun Tram? Preferably one that doesn't leave me waiting several minutes for my ride.

I used to play it, but once end game starts all you do is run dungeons all day or PvP. Which to me is really boring. While WoW does have a vast and interesting story, they don't make enough use of it in the game so the actual amount of freedom you have as a player to skip all the history and lore, and fly to the next dungeon after dungeon really kills that. They are improving but once it's all said and done, WoW really lacks any depth in it's end game. At least that was my experience, and I had 3 80's. :/
Yeah - I've sat here many a night, hearing them behind me, playing the same 3 or 4 raids over and over and over again. I'll try it out once I get up to 80, but I don't see myself doing it a lot. Like I said earlier - I'm definitely going to make another character or 2 and play through more slowly. When my sister and I were playing together with just our level 1's, it was really fun. The exploration and feeling of accomplishment I'll get leveling without XP farming will be great, I'm sure.

I just started playing agian recently and I'm starting to get the hang of things agian. I had to quit beacuse the computer I used to play it on had the worst lag I have ever seen in any video game. I got a brand spanken new computer for my birthday and it now runs on no lag and I'm remembering why I used to be adicted to it. Plus WoW will always have a special place in my heart beacuse i met my first boyfriend on WoW. We quested toghter. Did instances, and sometimes we just chilled in thunder bluff for a little while. Good times.

I used to play it but I lost interest when they introduced a circular room as the main feature of a patch. Bored me to death.

The high point was doing the achievement 'One light in the darkness' and getting the ironbound drake before everyone and his dog had one because they didn't remove it. Regardless, the last minutes of that fight was so tense, I almost had a heart attack when one of the tanks disconnected, meaning our undergeared offtank had to handle double the amount of adds while he reconnected.

Good times.

Thinking of trying it again when the Cataclysm hits but I'd like to see them put more effort into their patches.
