Uatu is held by Marvel.
I searched and couldn't find any definitive answer as to who can put him on screen. It's just as likely to be Fox, it seems.

Inception wishes it could be tripping on the kind of drugs Strange had in the 60s and 70s.
I think you've grabbed the wrong end of the comparative stick and also proved my original point. As in: I don't think anyone's ever suggested Strange is ripping off Inception at all - but the visuals so far (I'm hoping they're just holding back the freakiest imagery) conjure Nolan's film, not Ditko's art. Inception and Batman Begins are the two most common comparisons so far (and also The Matrix... which is one I definitely can't see).

Random wish: I'd love to see a glimpse of something that could be Eternity in the film. Doctor Strange is a perfect chance to hide all kinds of fleeting nods to the cosmic scale - concepts/characters they could either leave as texture/filler for fans, or return to later and actually make use of in future MCU arcs.

Dude, I have been reading/hearing so much stuff over the past 24 hours about how the footage in the Doctor Strange trailer was copied from Nolan. That and Ancient One complaints have my head hurting. Like I said before, I have no doubt that they are holding off a lot of much freakier stuff. As for Batman Begins, we get that comparison because for some reason in that movie they told Strange's origin almost beat for beat, rather than anything ever associated with Batman. I don't want to piss people off and post another collage, but just look up either Strange Tales 115 which is the first telling, or Doctor Strange 169 which was more in depth, and you will see that everything they showed of his origin is straight from the comics.

I'd let Tilda Swinton punch me in the soul any day. She's always had this otherworldly look like that kinda thing just comes naturally to her.

Probably because she's pretty androgynous, white as copier paper and fairly tall (5' 11" shoeless, so probably 6' 3" in a decent set of heels).

You know, when I first watched Batman Begins, 'This is kind of like Dr. Strange's thing' is EXACTLY what I thought, but I kind of just brushed it off as not mattering. I didn't imagine, at the time, that Dr. Strange would be relevant or possible in cinema within my life time.

Guess I'm the fool.

Tilda Swinton is a descendant of Robert The Bruce and Benedict Cumberbatch a descendant of King Richard III

Pretty mental.

Damn Jimmy Kimmel gets all the good stuff. Which is just as well, as I don't find him that funny.

Anyway, wow that was pretty great. Can't wait for the nerd rage storm that will erupt from the Ancient One apparently being a woman.

That is pretty damn psychedelic, and Cumberbatch's American accent is good. Don't know much about Doctor Strange, and that usually means I will enjoy this more than Age of Ultron or Batman v Superman.
Jimmy Kimmel works for the ABC network, which is in turned, owned by Disney (if I recall correctly). He's basically a shill for anything Disney owns or is producing.

Yeah saw this earlier today.
Seems really interesting, magic is joining the MCU, unless of course... you count Thors/Asgard powers as magic.
But yeah, Civil War in a few weeks, then this in the winter and Suicide Squad in August!

Not really likely, but I hope the villain for this is Shuma Gorrath. And not some dude painted green calling himself that, I want the green squid dude from MVC.

Barring that, set Nic Cage's head on fire again for Dormammu.
Since they are doing his origin story, wouldn't it be Dormammu? I thought he fought Dormammu before Shuma Gorath.

They're both pretty far off from his origin, however I believe all of the origin story beats we see in the trailer will either take place within the first 15-20 minutes of the film, or will be told in flashbacks sprinkled throughout. Remember we already know from Winter Soldier that SHIELD/Hydra are aware of his existence and activities, so he's already been doing his thing for a while. That said, the first of his rogues that we see him fight in the comics is Nightmare, which would be a great intro to the world of mysticism. Would also love to see how the bring Dreamstalker to the big screen.

I know. It's just that I don't wanna wait several years before I see that tentaclwd monstrosity possibly hit the big screen.

Again though, if they're using Dorm;

And don't use special effects this time. He's a method actor!

Other than maybe one fairly leftfield post in this thread, I've seen lots of references and comparisons, but that's a very different thing. And as your pics proved; the film looks far more like Inception than anything in Ditko's era of classic artwork, hence why I was a little disappointed.

Can you understand how most casual filmgoers would see only Inception in that teaser? What other uber mainstream films have featured fairly trippy CG imagery of cities folding over or falling in on themselves?

Oh sure, I can totally see why the casual viewer would think that. It's the supposed comic geek sites that are killing me with the "They're totally copying Nolan" BS.
Since the teaser seems to be mostly flashback, I think once the movie gets into the meat of the story I think we'll be seeing a lot more things as far out as Ditko. I hope at least.

I am a man who has a strong like of conventionally attractive women. But Tilda Swinton's power as an actor combined with her ethereal looks just, man, even bald as all hell or playing an angel or a sadistic ice queen she has me smitten.

As for the trailer, I think the inception comparisons are facile. Sure there are some visual comparisons that can be made but it's hardly important unless those visuals are something someone dislikes specifically. I'm hoping they get even more strange, to the point where they send that strangeness to get its PhD.

Aaaand now I'll have to forget I ever so much as watched Venture Bros. before the movie's premiere.

Does the Potterverse Obliviate spell work for real? I'm in a bind, here.

I find the Deadpool method of direct cranial violence is your best bet.

No can do. I'm from Canadialand, where Shotty Boom Booms are at least somewhat less available than they are in Freedomland.

There's that and, well, I'd rather not die. Unless my folks lied and I've got a healing factor tucked away between two alleles.

So... Roger Rabbit style? Frying pan to the noggin until amnesia ensues?

You can stab yourself in the noodle with a knife. Not only will you probably forget (Something), but you'll get a cartoon show!
