This was actually done in medieval Europe (albeit it branding, rather than tattooing) - depending on the severity of the crime the brand would be put in different places, a relatively minor offence might result in an easily concealed mark on the hand, while a major criminal would have one on his or her face.freaper said:OT: A tattoo depending on the crime; murder would grant you the outline of your skull traced with ink.
