Really? I think it was the worst in the series, including the first one and probably the NES ones too, but the latter ones are probably just from nostalgia.
I never played Portable Ops though, so I can't say anything about that.
What was wrong with it? It fixed the camera and combat so it wasn't awkward anymore. No hiding bodies and crawling was a bit sad, but then you had the whole army building and upgrades to make up for it :)
To be honest with you, I don't even remember it that good. I played it for a few hours before I stopped. I'm not sure if "gameplay" wasn't way too general a description for what I didn't like. The layout of the areas sucked, both as a sort of map, and also in terms of me feeling like I'm actually sneaking by them. I'm not even sure how to say it, I wish I could do a better job explaining it.
The army building thing was cool though, but IMO, it wasn't enough to make up for the rest. Sorry I can't explain it better, but I don't really want to play it again just to be able to back my argument up. I hope you understand.

fair enough. I think most of your problems with it could be because of the limitations of psp/ being portable. Which groud zeroes is not, so good times :D

Storytelling like Peace Walker? Fine with me. Gameplay like Peace Walker? F**K THAT S**T!
Theres was something wrong with peacewalkers gameplay? I thought it was the best yet.
I agree with this dude, the gameplay felt a lot better, though not being able to aim down the sight and move while you are choking someone kind of sucked. One movement and WHAM you slam them into a wall in the most comedic way possible.

I think you're absolutely right about that. Had it been released for PS2/3 originally, and played more along the lines of MGS3 (which happens to be my favorite), I'd be all over it.
