I'm a little scared of spiders myself, but I've had a number crawl on me in the past few months (damn you, summer). They were little black house spiders though, thank goodness. They didn't live long after being discovered.

Source [http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-13134505]BBC News said:Scientists have described a Chinese spider they say is the biggest fossilised arachnid yet found.
The female, which lived about 165 million years ago, belongs to a collection of spiders well known today - the golden orb weavers.
These creatures make webs from a very tough and distinctively golden silk.
The researchers tell the journal Biology Letters that Nephila jurassica, as they have called their specimen, would have had a leg span of some 15cm.
"She is the largest known fossil spider," said Professor Paul Selden from the University of Kansas, US.
"Her body is not the biggest, but if you add in her long legs then she's the largest," he told BBC News.
I thought it was called the Coconut Crab beacuse it uses coconuts to drift from island to island because they can't go into the water otherwise they drown.Drabonn888 said:And for you I have: The Coconut Crab. You can't really hit it for massive damage while going into hysteria.
And the giant spiders in Everquest...not pleasant. Not when they uncurl from behind a hill.

Er, you quoted the wrong person. And it exists because that's what happens on isolated islands.Top Hat said:Okay, why the hell does that exist?Catchy Slogan said:And for you I have: The Coconut Crab. It's called that because it eats coconuts.

This is a spider that will chase you down if it even thinks your looking at it wrong, and the last thing you will hear is the spider say "I swallowed your God."Miles000 said:Yay?
Well I'm sure it can't be that bad.
That exists because crab meat is freaking delicious, don't knock the system when it brings 25 pounds worth to your door.Top Hat said:Okay, why the hell does that exist?Catchy Slogan said:And for you I have: The Coconut Crab. It's called that because it eats coconuts.

From the cracked article: "when it's in the mood, brings down entire birds and eats them. It doesn't make webs, or leap great distances--it just slowly sneaks up behind things and jumps on them. Yes, just like in your nightmares. Go ahead and check behind you. We'll wait.
Its spit can dissolve flesh down to the bone AND it can shoot invisible hairs that cut your eyes and mouth. While the "intelligent designer" theory has lost steam of late, the "sadistic bastard creator" theory is single-handedly supported by the existence of this creature."

Enjoy the nightmares.
Oh really now..? Maybe you should think again, sinceSimulated Eon said:OT: Don't really have a problem with insects or arachnids probably because I live in Sweden and I'm pretty sure that there arn't any poisonous ones here. If there where I would probably be more scared.
The bees have actually developed a counter to that, it involves sacrificed a few dozen bees to completely cover the hornet and overheat it.Simon Pettersson said:Those Hornets are Evil!! They exterminated a whole beehiveThisIsSnake said:snipI like bees
