He was a bit of a screw up, but I didn't hate him. I showed him mercy throughout the entire game, though I did get mad at him on multiple occasions. We have all made mistakes before, probably nothing to the degree he does but yes we all have, and he is a bit of a coward but he is also a kid remember.
Though when he ran and left Clem behind with the zombies in chapeter 4 I was REALLY pissed at him.

I always stuck up for him and kept him around because I figured he would redeem himself near the end. Nope, he just ends up taking another member of the group with him as he dies.

I felt terribly sorry for him. I kept wanting him to do better. But he kept fucking up, and getting people killed. Poor Bree was the last straw.
When I had the chance, I let him fall. Then I felt terrible about it. Then I learnt that he dies anyway. Then I no longer felt bad. Then I went back to feeling some sort of vague pity towards him, and relief that he was finally dead.

I Always liked Ben honestly expect when he left Clementine to the zombie .
But at the episode 5 if you take Ben with you and fail your jump at the bell tower he pull you up before
you fell . And that really made me like him . And Ben didn't kill anybody the only character that we can say he "killed" is Chuck by leaving clementine

I felt bad for the kid.
I can't really fault someone for being afraid, stuck in a situation where nearly everyone distrusts eachother. He fucked up a couple of times, but so did every other character. Ben was just unlucky enough to have his fuck-ups be that severe. He was a good guy, he just couldn't hack it.
That's not to say I didn't get pissed off at him on numerous occasions and even threatened to chuck him off the train, if only to vent my anger over him indirectly causing Carly's death. I also didn't drop him in the bell tower either, if only because that would be an easy escape for him when he has a lot to make up for.
In the end he served the story very well by representing that side of humanity that is just to scared to do anything, and reasonably so.

People who dropped Ben Because he killed Carley (which is wrong) are wrong to not giving him a chance . Lee killed Larry a men before the apocalypse , Doug or Carley . And for me it is because of Lily than Duck has been bitten . (Or lee) Lee took the bag in a kind of a conduit. and this is after that they attacked . If lee wouldn't have taken the bag . Or lily start an investigation . Nobody would have die . But I am agree in the fact that he should have tell it at someone .
I didn't hate the guy but I had to say he was completely fucking stupid to just "take the hatchet" which was holding off the walkers. Plus he couldn't just deal with it when it came to what happened in the 3rd episode.

I too hated Ben . This guy was as dumb as dumb get's . If anything , he made me realise that in case if a real zombie apocalypse, i'm shooting every single mother fucking teenager i see . The moment Carly died got shot , i lost it . I threw lilly of the bus , and i wanted Ben dead as soon as i realised what he did . I dropped his ass off the Tower and loved it .
The only other person i didn't like was Larry . Racist prick . You better believe i bashed in his head with the Salt lick . He wouldn't have hesitated to do the same to me . Clementine was my priority , and i felt he was a danger to us all .

For me I chose Carly over doug, I found them both interesting characters but it was more-over the situation we were in. She was the only one with a gun in the whole building, I had to save her.Solo-Wing said:

I didnt particularly hate Ben until he revealed he was the one who had actually be helping the bandits, which made me look like an idiot after defending him so much. I still couldnt kill him in cold blood though, so he did tag along until he got impaled on that railing.
The thing I find more confusing is why so many people chose idiot reporter woman who cant put batteries in a radio and knows your murdery secret to help you survive the zombie apocalypse over genius who is good at making/designing very useful tools, equipment, etc.

Maybe the bandit would have attacked in the night because ben would have refuse the deal . And clem could have be killed lily Kenny etc ....
