So I just got a PS3

I don't have a ps3 myself, so even though I have a few friends who do, don't take my recommendations too seriously.

Uncharted 1 and/or 2
ModNation Racers?
Resistance 1 and/or 2?
Killzone 2?

I'm pretty certain that the uncharted games are good, but I'm not sure about the others.

EDIT: Forgot about one other one that I'm certain is good. God of War 3.

After all of them, Uncharted 2 is the first game you get. Seriously, this thing is awesome. Then I'd recommend

Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in time,
Heavy Rain, (Many people didn't like this game, but in my opinion, it is one of the greatest ever)
[PROTOTYPE], (which is very similar to inFamous,
Littlebigplanet 2, when it comes out
Portal 2, when it comes out
Modnation racers, if you're into that kinda thing,
God of war III,

And asides from that, you're pretty much set. Toy Story 3 is supposed to be pretty good, but probably shouldn't be your first choice for the PS3

if you ever played the early battlefield games (1942 through 2142), then mag is very fun game that plays very similarly to those, only downside is some balancing issues (especially on the domination maps). other than that mgs4, resistance (the second is really only worth a rent).

Killzone 2 is kinda bland, I'd say go with something hidden that you havent heard about. It might be the best game evar.

Folklore, Assassin's Creed 1 and 2, Fairytale fights (like LBP, but violent), FFXIII (don't argue, just buy it, it's quite a challenging game), Arkham Asylume (obviously), Losplanet 2 is sooooo much fun with friends and in co-op. Buy it!

I liked Oblivion and Fallout 3 a lot. Also Ratchet and Clank: A crack in time was pretty good, even though i've been a fan of the series since I played ratchet and clank 1 on PS2, it was legitimately good, especially the bit where you build your own pistol, shotgun and grenade-hurling power glove. GTA IV was great if you're into that and happen to have the 8 years necessary to beat the storyline. also, FREAKING ASSASSIN'S CREED 1&2! EPIC, and the 3rd is coming out soon-ish. RDR is meant to be good and many of my friends liked The Force Unleashed. Prototype if you want to mindlessly smash things, infamous to mindlessly zap, both fun though.

A lot of people didn't like Heavy Rain very much but I actually really liked it. Good graphics, comprehensive and well executed gameplay, Beautifully executed and engaging story that is incidently some of the best story writing i've heard in a long time and arguably some of the best in any videogame. also, feels good when you beat it perfectly (save kid, defeat killer, lose no one else, don't shoot drug dealer / father of two.)

Heavenly sword (is good if you like hack n' slash but is short. It was a launch title so . . .)

That's a pretty big list so I'll leave you with that.

NOTE: If you're a fan of Final Fantasy then the PS3 version of FFXIII is definitely the one to get. It's fast paced but is my least favorite game in the series. It's still pretty good but just didn't satisfy my FF craving.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm WillKrepelin on PSN. I won't be on until July 12th though because I'm moving in a couple days and the DSL won't be set up until then. Cheers

I'd certainly recommend Dead Space, brilliant 'Prepare to shit a brick, there's an empty corridor' title. To people's Resistance calls, I'd have to extremely disagree. The first one was actually very good. Then the second one came out rushed with pathetic multiplayer, graphics worthy of the original Resident Evil, with controls as bad to boot -sigh-

Though it's been mentioned, Fallout 3 is probably my all-time favourite game too
