My game, I shall play it as I wish to.
NO! Play it as I wish, I command you!

No using the forward or backwards keys, you must move like a crab.

BOBIC HAS SPOKEN!
hehe i think i might just start a new character and try that.. sounds.. interesting..
Make sure you reassign those keys, can't have you instinctively reaching for them now can I?

Without giving away anything:

HARD: Evergreen mills/old olney

Medium: The city

Easy: Most of the plains

Difficulty is not only dictated by level but by place.

Oh and if you get that random encounter with the deathclaw and victim, search the corpse for a really cool (-----)

Almost finished downloading on steam, advice on how to get the best experience out of it?
Don't play the Mothership Zeta DLC. Or if you do, save before you go anywhere near the ship. There is a high chance that the levels will break in there, and you cannot leave. Plus its horrible and boring anyway.

You should never play any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, haha.

Like a lot of other people said, don't worry about the main quest-line too much. I usually get to Rivet City and start exploring.

Ditch all of your clothing, run around in your underwear, and punch everything in the head with a Powerglove (ESPECIALLY Deathclaws). It may not win you the game, but it's fucking hilarious. Also, download the Broken Steel DLC first so you won't level cap your character at 20 by the end of the game.

Go to Old Olney first, it's a great place for players in their beginning stages to level up through combat. The NPCs there are pushovers.

My game, I shall play it as I wish to.
I actually found it better not to start fresh, i didn't manage to enjoy the game until i grabbed a ton of hints from other people.

First off i'd advise getting your explosives skill to 30 during the tutorial.
Then when you reach Megaton at the beginning of the game talk to the Sheriff dude and say you'll disarm the bomb in the middle of the town. Then use your explosives skill of 30 to disarm it!

From that you get a free house! The whole quest takes like 2 seconds you just need that explosives skill to do it.

From then on you can hoard as many items as you want in your house and then filter out the stuff you can sell later on.

If you find yourself low on health often i'd recommend putting points into your Medicine skill. This makes Stimpaks more effective, which are your main health item.

Whether or not you follow the spoiler'd tips i just gave it's always best to just explore rather than follow the main quest. Hunt for some sidequests and do some random exploring and you'll find all sorts of crazy weapons and earn tons more money!

It's a Bethesda game, so remember that the main story can get fucked. In a desperate attempt to get you to play it, the only way to get power armour training is to do the main story. Luckily. power armour is shit. Go mods. I have mods to make power armour better, more stompy, and give you training at sensible points.

Play on PC, mod the hell out of it.

Also, try to get Chaplain result in the goat, get ye hammer and SMITE! SMITE the wastes!

WELL I SUGGEST YOU PLAY IT...also, don't go through the story line straight through. Very, very short. The DLC adds some spice, but mods are good too.

thats not the best way to deal with that quest.
talk to the sheriff to start the quest, go and talk to mr.burke in the saloon he will give you a device to rig the bomb. after you speak to burke go back and tell the sheriff that burke wants you to blow up the bomb then go with him to confront burke. after the sheriff dies kill burke and loot both their gear. then when you get 30 explosives you can come back and disarm the bomb the sheriffs kid gives you the XP and money :D

my advice is up your repair skill to as high as you can as early as you can will save you lots of money, then up lock pick , small guns and science. those 4 are your most important skills after them sneak medicine and speech are great.

Go to fallout nexus. Modded Fallout 3 is fun.
And don't forget to use the Fat Man whenever it is even remotely possible to survive the blast.

wear a vest, it makes the game much better, but seriously, just take in all the scenery, and make sure you always steal all of peoples clothes

That way's a little better but my way was just a quick fix for new players ^_^

Depends what the OP's up for doing really.

Look at the sky. Spin about then look down.

Then walk in what ever direction your pointing too. Its immensly rewarding.

Also http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Wiki is also pretty good for any problems that may arise.

Stay away from Little Lamplight if you value your sanity.
And there is some really cool and easy to grab gear in old olney. Perfect for the budding adventurer :p [sub][sub][sub]only joking[/sub][/sub][/sub]
You need to go to little lamplight to get into that Vault, or you can't complete the game.
I consider it worth not completing the game to avoid little lamplight :p
I hate it so much >_<
