So I just got over a cold the other day and I woke up with the bottom of my mouth hurting considerably. After taking a minute to look in the mirror, I notice there was some swelling. If I drank something cold, the swelling would go down. If I pressed down on the swelling, my mouth would quickly fill with saliva. So, I figured I had a salivary gland infection.
Now, you can get salivary gland infections from various things, including colds. I have had them before, it was no big deal. I figured I'd continue stimulating the gland over the day and if it didn't improve over a few days, I'd see a doctor.
A few minutes ago, when pushing down on the gland, a white, pea shape object popped out. It scared the living heck out of me. After a half an hour of research and talking to my grandmother (a nurse of forty years or so), I've determined it to be a calcium deposit. Typically, you have to get them surgically removed.
I was curious if anyone else on the forum's have had an experience like this, with calcium deposits blocking off glands or other such things.
