I got the game about a week ago and due to school have'nt been able to play it much. I sat down today and played it a good 4 hours (I am Sick) of gameplay and here are a few things I've noticed.

1. Shepard - I played a Paragon,Soldier generic I know but it seemed easy at the time. I noticed that Sheperd's features are a little messed up from importing from ME2. With me being bald and the game saying that I have a full head of hair. Also I started at level 25...

2. Companions -
Ashely - Did'nt like you in the first game and still don't like the accusing "I want to murder you in your sleep , you Cerberus Dog" glares she gives me

Liara - My love through all the games, Charcter looks a bit skinny but hey i still like her (did they change her voice actress from the first game?)

Garrus - Awesome incarnate with a rifle also CALIBRATIONS

EDI - Metal

James - He's like a Human Krogan with the muscles hes got

3. Flashbacks to previous games - Small Things like saying Calibrations and stuff make me smile.

4. Reapers Ya-da-ya-da-ya - The little boy seen nearly made me bawl like a child but Palaven buring was just eerie

5. Combat - It's ok like that's it's fast and exilerating with bullets flying over your head. Upgrades are interesting still like the ME2 kind of upgradeing

6. Newscasters - Jennifer Chobot (?) looks like a Plastic surgeon forgot to go to med school and I punched the other Lady again...thats 3 times now :D

So yea there's my thoughs comment and NO SPOILERS ON THE ENDING OR OTHERWISE

PS: Why is'nt Anderson on the council anymore? I put him on it.

Indeed, I had heard it was buggy with imported Shepards. But then again I always use the default so I have no way of knowing.

I seriously think people overstate this. Her issues with Shepard and Cerberus happen a grand total of three times in a game that can last as long as thirty hours. Two mentions on Mars and a brief moment during the Udina scene and personally
I feel Ashley turning her gun on the politician she is sworn to protect on Shepard's word alone ought to count for something.

Still, I can understand people not being happy about that and I'm hardly asking you to like the character if you don't want to, but in my experience it's nowhere near as bad as people keep saying it is. Personally my only complaint about Ashley is how much of her dialogue and content got cut.
There were some truly great conversations in the leaked script that even got as far as being recorded that for reasons that escape me just got cut and now outside her (admittedly decent) romance arc she has sweet fuck all to say.

I wait two years to be reuinited with my love interest and once the bad patch of the relationship is fixed, Bioware cuts 70% of her dialogue and never lets her leave the room she's in or interact with the rest of the crew to any significant degree unless very specific circumstances are met. There truly is no middle finger big enough.

That said all 24 minutes of Ashley's actual romance is still good and solid and after Horizon and being ignored for the better part of two years I'm ready to accept 'good enough' as truly being 'good enough'.

Liara - My love through all the games, Charcter looks a bit skinny but hey i still like her (did they change her voice actress from the first game?)
If you romanced Liara you are essentially set for life. Sadly I like Ashley so I get to deal with what I've got. Personally I don't hate Liara but I don't like how I am forced to be super duper best friends with her.

Garrus - Awesome incarnate with a rifle also CALIBRATIONS
No argument here.

EDI - Metal
Still not great on the whole 'EDI' thing. It sounded dumb in the leaked draft and I still haven't gotten over it now, it honestly feels like Bioware just wanted to add yet another sexualized female character to the team.

James - He's like a Human Krogan with the muscles hes got
Eh.

3. Flashbacks to previous games - Small Things like saying Calibrations and stuff make me smile.
Yeah it's true, little references like that make it shine.

4. Reapers Ya-da-ya-da-ya - The little boy seen nearly made me bawl like a child but Palaven buring was just eerie
Honestly I just thought the little boy dying was cliche and overdone. I realize this makes me sound a little sociopathic but I as a player have no connection to this kid at all so I feel nothing at his death.
It's very surreal when Shepard's memorial wall is covered in the names of close friends and comrades who died for noble causes or in needlessly tragic ways but the only person he grieves for is one nameless child with whom he has no connection.

5. Combat - It's ok like that's it's fast and exilerating with bullets flying over your head. Upgrades are interesting still like the ME2 kind of upgradeing
I gotta be honest, I never got into Mass Effect for the combat.

6. Newscasters - Jennifer Chobot (?) looks like a Plastic surgeon forgot to go to med school and I punched the other Lady again...thats 3 times now :D
I just think the whole thing was stupid and a mistake. Chobot is not an actress, I say this not out of hostility towards her but as simple fact. She isn't. She's a game journalist who is considered hot, she does her job reporting on video games well enough but she had virtually zero experience acting prior to this and it really shows in her performance. Bioware clearly only picked her because she is a 'hot gamer chick', like as essentially a gimmick and I think it should go without saying that physical attractiveness should not be a factor in picking voice actors!
I refuse to believe Bioware would be dumb enough to not realize that. As a result the whole thing was a mess, bad character model, bad performance and it spoils the game a little bit in the process.
Oddly the person I feel most sorry for is Chobot herself. She was just starting to do really good in her career, now she'll be a laughing stock for quite a while.

So yea there's my thoughs comment and NO SPOILERS ON THE ENDING OR OTHERWISE
Tried my best to go without spoilers. Should note that I haven't actually played ME3 myself (Xbox was stolen) so I base most of this on youtube videos.

PS: Why is'nt Anderson on the council anymore? I put him on it.
Same reason why even though 'My Shepard' is madly in love with Ashley he almost never speaks to her and instead confides everything to Liara. The same reason why 'My Shepard' has to be traumatized by the death of a totally nameless child who I have zero connection to.

For all their talk of how it's 'your story' there are clear signs that Bioware want certain things to happen in it whether you want it or not. YOU WILL LOVE LIARA! YOU WILL BE GRIEF STRUCK BY THE RANDOM KID! YOU WILL HATE CERBERUS! YOU WILL ELECT UDINA AS COUNCILOR! NO NEGOTIATIONS!!

People talk a lot about how the ending snatches control away from them and forces them on a pre-determined story line but really there were a few times where that happened. So much bloody auto dialogue means so few opputunities to actually do the roleplaying of a ROLE PLAYING GAME!

to be fair....its a little hard not to hate cerberus...and I think they were set up to be the villan

I agree about the kid...however there is the Idea that its just a halucination...and if not that its not the kid in particular..but what the kid means (earth and everyone you care about..GONE) the kid a menisfestion of all those feelings..or whatever

Liara's voice actress is the same. She altered the voice towards Liara's stronger personality coming out of the events of ME2.

I used to really miss Old Liara until I saw a video of her and ash love triangle in me1. Liara really took way too much crap...and with a smile back then. Im glad she learned to stand up for herself these days.

btw check out early tali in me1. Her voice was way more childish. Back in me1 she was considered a kid on her pilgrimage. She became an adult in ME2 and her voice matured to match.

Even garrus voice has changed a bit.

Its fun seeing the character personalities grow over the trilogy and its a treat that the voice actors changed tones accordingly.

I think Soldier is the worst class in ME3, to be honest. The huge advantage Soldiers had in the previous games was that they could use any weapon. Now in ME3, any class can use any weapon, and the Soldiers powers are kind of meh. I think the weight system worked pretty damn well.

Anyway, I played as an infiltrator, and have always used the standard Shepard because whenever I make one myself it looks Derpy went to hell and back.

2. Companions -
Ashely - Did'nt like you in the first game and still don't like the accusing "I want to murder you in your sleep , you Cerberus Dog" glares she gives me
I wouldn't know, I let her die in the first game because I didn't like her. Kaidan might be the personification of boring, but it beats that Ashley ***** at the very least.

Liara - My love through all the games, Charcter looks a bit skinny but hey i still like her (did they change her voice actress from the first game?)
I'm kind of indifferent about Liara. Tali all the way. =D

Garrus - Awesome incarnate with a rifle also CALIBRATIONS
There is no Shepard without Vakarian after all. Heterosexual lifepartners, they are.

EDI - Metal
Giving EDI a (sexy) body felt kind of unnecessary. I mean, Joler already has like 7 Zetabytes of dirty images and videos, so...

James - He's like a Human Krogan with the muscles hes got
James was a douche. If BioWare felt the need to include a tank squad member, give me Grunt. Or Wrex. Or, well... Any Krogan will do, really.

3. Flashbacks to previous games - Small Things like saying Calibrations and stuff make me smile.
Small details like these make the game complete (Let's pretend the ending doesn't exist)

4. Reapers Ya-da-ya-da-ya - The little boy seen nearly made me bawl like a child but Palaven buring was just eecrearie
Meh. The little boy was all just in Shepard's head. Many more were dying, people that I knew from the previous games that I created bonds with were biting the dust. I grieve them, not some random child I happen to see in my dreams.

5. Combat - It's ok like that's it's fast and exilerating with bullets flying over your head. Upgrades are interesting still like the ME2 kind of upgradeing
Combat was pretty fun. Equip a Javelin with a level V armor piercing mod and use armor piercing ammo. The Javelin can see enemies through walls. Enemy cover means nothing to you.

6. Newscasters - Jennifer Chobot (?) looks like a Plastic surgeon forgot to go to med school and I punched the other Lady again...thats 3 times now :D
She goes to another Alliance vessel and dies when it is shot down. Never though I'd say this, but thanks, Harbinger.

- It's not saying much but I thought Ashley was a more compelling character in ME3 than Kaidan. At least she had:

The memorial wall scene with her sister and her drunken moment in the lounge

That being said, they were both pretty damn boring.

- Jessica Chobot's delivery was pretty wooden. Kind of painful to do those interviews with her character, really.

- I had no problem with Liara "being forced on you" as she was my LI through the three games. However, I can see where some people were ticked about it. Between

her: time capsule, study of and disappointment in Javik, emotional breakdown after Thessia, meeting her father and sharing her memories with Shepard on London

It's pretty clear Bioware was playing favourites.

I'm beginning to think I'm the only person who actually change my mind about Ashley after she started acting cold towards you. Honestly in ME1 I found her boring and overly mistrusting to aliens, but from Horizon in ME2 onwards I appreciate the fact she doesn't want to let the whole cerberus thing go. Mostly because I spent the largest portion of ME2 thinking to myself much of what Ashley says. It always got to me how overly trusting Shepwas of cerberus in ME2 despite all the things he/she saw them do in the first game (made worse if you have the sole survivor background). Substituting a small level of racism for well focused anger, turns out is more than enough to make me start liking the character

I really didn't like James: My party already had TWO "tank" characters: Shepard and Ashley.

They really should have had an option to get a new Sentinel instead of yet another bullet hose/sponge for those who got Ashley back - it's not like there's enough depth in the new character to make any difference.

I'm not really impressed by ME3's storytelling at all so far. Too many "Tragic Deaths" that could and should have been prevented by allowing me to Pull L-trigger and Medigel them back to health like I did in ME2.

And yeah... I'm ticked Bioware cut out so much of Ashley's content.

Also: Is it really a good idea to treat the person who's job is to acquire and sell confidential information to the highest bidder as your confidant?
