I can't cry. I jabbed out my tearducts when I was a little boy. Ah shit! Dry tears!

OT: Why would you ever what to cry (I mean besides tears of joy)? I haven't cried inn a while (although I think I've gotten pretty upset about some things) and I don't see that as a bad thing. I'll try to find something that moved me though so that I can add too this thread.

I seriously hope they at least consider a multiple Doctor episode and bring Tennant back, hopefully for a two part set.

I hope they do that. I wouldn't mind seeing Ecclestone back, either. At first, I wasn't sure what to make of Tennant because I was used to the Ninth Doctor by that point. And then Tennant blew me away. He was amazing. But Eccleston did a good job, too.

I disliked quite a bit about the specials. The Next Doctor seemed marvelous, and the second one (Forget the name) was decent, but Water on Mars/End of Time really had the Doctor acting in a way that seemed grossly out of character for quite a bit of the time. Which is a shame, because The End of Time had some seriously epic moments. But the portions where the Doctor seemed to turn away from his nature seemed like they were just writing a way to kill him.

Missed the 11th Doctor's first series, so I don't know if he's good or not. The end of the 10th Doctor certainly got tears out of me, though. and The very beginning of the 11th's run was certainly good. I preferred Moffat's episodes anyway, when I looked back at my favourites, so I'm probably going to enjoy the new series.

End of Series 4 had a similar reaction from me. Poor Donna.

The 11th, Matt Smith, is okay, he feels like a cross between the 2nd Doctor and the 6th Doctor. The 2nd clothes wise, and the 6th being too nuts. The episodes are pretty good in his first season as the Doctor, except for the two part finale. All I will say that there was a great suspenseful episode interlocking plot/problem, hand they dropped the ball on the finale, because they wrote themselves into a corner and had to create a BS ending. If you think Tennant's Doctor had some moments where he got out of situations without having a clear explanation of how with in actual science or science-fiction science, then Smith moment in the finale takes the cake. It even broke the rules of imaginary science, if that is even possible.

Other Who fans on the Escapist have harped on me in the past because I criticize the 11th's first season finale. They usually comment on how, oh, it was awesome and really funny.

My point is that it was too funny. With what the big plot problem was, there wasn't enough drama. Doctor Who is suppose to be a dramatic science fiction-like show with a bit of humor mixed in. This latest finale, was like a comedy show, with touch of drama. Watching Smith then, was like watching a clown dance merrily in a war zone.

I still recommend watching the latest season, just for the episodes that come before the two part finale. Seriously, if one or two of those episodes had been bad, and I had watched the finale then, I would have given up on the show, this is coming from a Doctor Who fan that has done the best he can to find and watch every episode from 1963 to now.

I'm probably just going to buy the DVDs, for the sake of it. I don't buy a lot of shows without having watched them first, but I missed this series because my DVR screwed up and I was pissed to find out.

I get what you mean on breaking the laws of imaginary science, though. It's suspension of disbelief, and the 10th Doctor was over the top sometimes, but he pulled it off most of the time. All Sci Fi, even the weakest and most tennuous sci fi runs on it. It's just that point where people start crying "Bull****!" That you have a problem. It's a shame, though. I really want the show to be good.

So one way or another, I'll give it a try. Lousy DVR and BBC America...*shakes fist impotently*

Grave of the Fireflies, it will send you into a deep depression from which no hope or joy can escape, and that's just at the half way point, I didn't finish it for fear that my soul might commit suicide.

Basically the whole film can be described as "And then it got worse...."

Equal parts brilliant film, for what it is, and awful film for how it makes me feel
