And bought a bloody gamecube for twenty bucks(Canadian) I'd been seeing some previews for Skyward sword and such, and got missing playing the old Zelda games that actually GOT me into video games in the first place.

Anyways, point I'm making, is that I got the Zelda collection (Ocaraina of Time, Majora's mask, Windwaker) and Twilight Princess and the cube itself, for 20 bucks. For me, OoT ALONE on my own nostalga value is worth sooooo much more then that. But other great N64 classics too. Banjo Kazzoie, FRICKEN GOLDENEYE, Legend of Zelda, Mario 64... All these games are what got me into at least twelve+ years of gaming. ENJOYABLE gaming at that.

But the fact that I can get these for dirt cheap now, when to me theyre worth so much more, just seems sad. Although I hear earlier games are becoming collectables.

What are your takes? Is there any games you feel are undervalued? games you miss? Got you into videogames?

The old Sonic games on the Genesis got me into games. Sometimes I still play them from time to time.

Retailers don't care what people think of the games. They care how much money they can get off things, and the fact is, few people would buy N64 games if they were really expensive. And the fact that they are two consoles behind really does meant that their market value is pathetic now.

But honestly, why is this a bad thing? It means that, if needed, you can rebuy your whole collection for next to nothing. Who cares what the retailers say it's worth as long as you like it?

Holy shit that's a steal. Twilight Princess alone is worth $20!

You're in much better luck than I am. Since pretty much everything is pirated in my country, old gems get thrown out for the new. Finding originals is hard enough, finding older games feels next to impossible sometimes. The only people willing to part with them are collectors themselves and the pricing is just ludicrously high.

So yeah, there are some people who value their older games. Perhaps a little too much. Personally, I just wish we didn't have to rely on obsolete technology to run our games. Have everything shifted into digital, y'know? But with the improved technology we've come to enjoy. For instance, Steam does sell copies of Streets of Rage, but its emulated so it runs kinda meh compared to the original. Oh yeah, and 2-player co-op is impossible unless you're sharing the same keyboard, and everyone knows that's awkward as hell. Wouldn't it be great if we could play that online?

... One can only dream, I guess.

This is a weird thread. "I feel I'm paying too little for games that are over a decade old, whose market viability died with their consoles."

AMEN, brother. Speaking of old Sega franchises, I still get a kick out of the original Phantasy Star games.

I've owned a Gamecube on like four separate occasions. At this point, I think the only game I'd want one for would be Wind Waker, and I'm holding out that it'll be re-released in some way, because every other fucking Nintendo game has been. I guess the same goes for Super Mario Sunshine, which I never managed to get very far in.

To be honest, I know Ocaraina of Time was re-released for the DS, with better graphics, but nothing compares to that old feeling of having a console controller in your hand to me at least.

I'd really think Nintendo would make a KILLING though if it re-released OoT with Twilight Princess graphics. One can dream....

Well, I was a little unfortunate growing up....so never had a gamecube. But, I had a super nintendo for the longest and I play my favorites (Donkey Kong Country, Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros) when I feel that way.

Donkey Kong Country and Sim City originally got me into gaming.

Wind Waker was the first game I've ever played on my gamecube, so it also means a lot to me. :3

I can't name a single, specific game that got me into gaming, but I can name the 2 games that reinforced my love for gaming.

I'll never forget the first time I walked into the gaming section of a local store, to see the N64 itself, running a real time demo of Super Mario 64. It was nothing short of glorious to see my favorite plumber being so alive, running around, jumping around, grabbing Bowser's tail and even flying!, that kind of freedom was pretty much unheard of at that time and I was equally baffled with the new controller design, at first, I couldn't understand how the heck I was supposed to hold that damned thing.

I obviously bought said console almost a year later, fast forward some months later, to 98's winter season and I started to salivate for the Ocarina of Time commercials that were aired on TV back then. Given the magnificent job of our voice actors of my country, they added a certain degree of epicness that I still don't see in any game commercial today, not even the actual Ocarina of Time 3DS commercials. I first rented the game and I couldn't let it go, even going as far as renting it 2 or 3 times in a row. I eventually bought it and I was happy. Very happy.

I got a Gamecube a couple weeks ago for $20 bucks. You got lucky though, around me, the Zelda games are anywhere from 20 to 40 dollars.

I never had a Gamecube but I for some reason really wanted to play the classics I missed out on

I still got my Gamecube so I do play one or two old games once in a while. Honestly I just missed playing games like Timesplitter and Soul Calibur on multiplayer duking it out against my bro. I mean I still got the games but my bro pretty much moved on.

Ugh, you bought a GameCube? Yuck! Buying a GC is the worst buying decision I ever made. I was nine at the time. But hey, as long as you're happy, that's what matters. :)

As for me, I really love the Dreamcast. Yes, it had a shitty controller, which is what sent it to an early demise, but, to me, the entire cost of the Dreamcast is made right by Sonic Adventure alone. Goddamn, that's a good game! One of these days, I'm going to have to boot my Dreamcast up again and play it! A lot of people forget just how advanced the DC was for its time (hell, most Wii games don't even come close to the Dreamcast). It's sad. <:'-(

Halo CE got me into games, and that's no going anywhere anytime soon. I downloaded it on Xbox Live for the 360 and I`ll more than likely be buying the HD remake. I do have nostalgic moments for Spider-Man 2, but the only irritation I have is that I can`t seem to find the damn thing.

Thats another thing really. Thank god for Xbox Live. Got quite a few of my favorite N64 games on there. And I'm pretty sure I'll be getting Halo:CE aniiversy too.
