The one that hold up tend to be the ones that are quite expensive considering their age.
I've seen the original Silent Hill for £15 at the cheapest, which is a lot to ask for a game from two generations ago.

The one PS1 game that I still play to this day is Yu-Gi-Oh: Forbidden Memories. I'm not totally sure where you can get a copy but I am sure there wil be plenty around.

FFIX is also very good. And Tactics. Tactics is my all-time favorite game.
I've never played the remake though (isn't it only for PS Vita or... whatever the old handheld is?) ... I thought it was supposed to be harder? Or I could just know the game well enough that it's lost all challenge. I've played hundreds of hours of it, though.
Also, try the Wild Arms series. Maybe watch some trailers to see which one you'd like to play - they're really, really varied, even gameplay wise.

I'm also going to throw Wild Arms 2 and Wild Arms 1 in there, and Final Fantasy 9.
So many people skipped those titles and they were wonderful.

Ick OP is in UK so providing he has an EU Ps1 then a lot of the truly great titles aren't available. I know I had to import a ps1 and games to play a lot of the truly amazing ones.

It's nothing compared to the PC version which you can get from GOG.com for about a tenner at the most.Doitpow said:

Medievil is good, but not great. Worth checking out at the very least, especially because he's in PASBR.

Legends of Legaia has a massive world and a pretty good story, it falls a little flat at the end but this is still one of my top 5 ps1 games.
Jade Cocoon is again not for everyone. Just a warning though the beginning of the game is basically all talking and pretty long.
