I bought Heavy Rain and Metal Gear. Now I am broke for a long time, but have games to play! Thanks for all the reply's. I will prob get Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet, and Infamous when I can per all your recommendations. Thanks again Escapist forum peoples!

Heavenly Sword and Lair are two decent games you can pick up for cheap used. (Around $15-$10)

I recommend WipeOut HD, Fat Princess, Comet Crash, and many of the PixelJunk games (my cat is the only thing I've seen like racers, but everything else is great).

Of course the big shooters, Resistance, Killzone 2, MAG.

And don't forget the casual chill-out games: LBP, ModNation Racers, Pain.

My reccomendations:

flOw
Flower
Wipeout HD
Burnout Paradise (the Ultimate pack is amazing value)

all these are on the PSN store and are really good value, and cheap.

DO NOT GET DEMONS SOULS. THEY ARE TRYING TO TRICK YOU. The game was objectively bad and will give you cancer. Get ratchet and clank. all of them. Infamous is really good. I would recommend M.A.G. I don't even play COD anymore because of it. Motor Storm Pacific Rift is amazing if you like racers, sort of like an off-road burnout. Also get a copy of Saints Row 2. It's not an exclusive but everybody on the planet should be legally forced to own a copy whether on not they have a console to play it on. Just owning a copy will make you a better person guaranteed.

Metal Gear 4 was a movie. avoid it as well. (kind of like heavy rain with less gameplay)
I'm serious though...if nothing else avoid demons souls.

The day has come where I shall not be a Microsoft exclusive gamer. A year ago when I heard Heavy Rain was PS3 only I knew this day would come. I was wondering what else ta get tho. I imagine God of War and the Uncharted games are the logical choices, any recommendations on PS3 exclusive games would be welcome. I find the good in most games, can't remember the last one I didn't like. So besides those 3, is there a must own ps3 exclusive game I should be aware of?

Thanks!
Any preferences in regards to genre?

You chose a good day to get one. Yesterday, we would have been like "Noooooooooo."

LittleBIGplanet and inFamous. If you have played any of the MGS games before then get MGS4.

Calumon: Digimon World! Digimon World!

Fat princess, some balance issues, really retarded AI, but if you can play online, it's not bad, though a few of your matches may run for quite long, so long that they become stalemate.
I LOVE FAT PRINCESS its like one of the best games its just awesome its in the same league as plants vs zombies for me

So far, I think Demon's Souls had the best graphics on the PS3 by a longshot and MGS4 had, by far, the most abominably bad (one day I'll post a screenshot of the laughable MGS4 "burning" effects.)
Your ability to exploit the presence of infrequent graphical errors does not mean that the whole game has terrible graphics.

They aren't "graphical errors" when they are programmed to occur. Play the game again and watch for burning objects throughout the game. Start with the tank that blows up at the beginning on the middle east area. The coded "error" is a burning graphic that consists of PS1 era wavy red lines overlayed on each other several times to look like "burning." If the Xbox 360 can create fire that is almost scary realistic in a goddawful mess like Alone in the Dark, then the vaunted programmers of MGS can create something that's at least passable in the last 15 years.

Beyond that, the character graphics were quite good, but not revolutionary. The location graphics were "meh."

Heavy rain is literally Quick Time Event: The movie: the game.
Shut up.

This is the second time I've seen you say this. Heavy Rain only uses QTEs during fights and other intense scenes, not the entire game. Before you go around mocking an absolutely brilliant game, (It is quite an experience.) might I suggest you actually play through it?

And if you have, you probably didn't play much... ¬_¬

OT: inFAMOUS, LittleBigPlanet, God of War III (When it comes out), Demon's Souls (If you like a challenge.) and Katamari Forever are all wonderful exclusives that I can name off the top of my head.

Make sure to by the slim model so it doesn't die on you.
My buddy has had his PS3 since Release Date and it still works fine. Mine is 2 years old going strong. The only reason PS3s die is because people don't take care of them.

OT: Flower.
I was talking about that whole ApocalPS3 thing that happened.

To some extent, yes. But for those of us games-are-art-hippies, it's a must have even with its minor glitches.
The thing is, it's storytelling does not lend itself well to the quick time event driven format. The story would gain from being told simply as a movie, or a choose your own adventure book. Maybe a gimmicky TV show where viewers vote between episodes.
In your opinion. In mine, I think the game does something very different. I happen to like it. I'm not alone, nor is mine the only valid opinion out there. But it's definitely a distinctive game and I would call it a must-play for the PS3 on those merits alone. Love it or hate it (and it's an alienating game for sure), it's definitely unique.

Sorry, excuse my error. I meant to say 'Shortcomings'.

I thought the character graphics were really good. I wouldn't say revolutionary, but certainly better than what a lot of other people have made. I liked the setting graphics as well, but again, I wouldn't say revolutionary. But then, a game doesn't need to be new and fresh and reinvent the wheel just to be passable.

I disagree.

I found Demon's Souls to be one of the most worthwhile experiences I've had in a while - second only to the Uncharted 2 campaign.

If you're able to play the game well, prepare for fun.

OT: Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet and Demon's Souls for starters. I've done this far too many times, so I'm limiting the collection - as for right now, to a well-rounded group of 4.

God of war 1&2 for the ps3, Devil May Cry, and i suggest waiting if your get a fat model.(unless they fixed the bug i haven't checked since it happened.)
The bug's supposedly fixed.
As for games, Uncharted 1/2, MGS4, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, inFamous, and a few others that I can't seem to remember right now...
