So I'm Trying To Do A Video In Zero Punctuation's Style...

...and I was wondering if anyone knew how to recreate his approach (still images set to a rambling soundtrack created in Audacity, I assume). I wanted to do this for a project to show how comics can be presented like animation can, given how Yahtzee uses stills ("panels") in a sequence ("comics") set to a narration with minimal animation. It's a stretch of a theory, I know, but interest has been expressed by those familiar with Zero Punctuation and comic theory (that is, those familiar with Scott McCloud's work).

Would I need to create a new still for every "scene change" or "action" and just stretch out their displayed duration to the portion of the soundtrack that I want it to? I've done some fiddling with Windows Movie Maker (the program that I was recommended to use) and I don't think I spent enough time with it to really get a grasp over it, so if someone has a simpler explanation that they can scratch down and post, it'd really help me out.

I was also wondering if someone knew some of the seemingly more advanced techniques (like the knee jerk he did in the Halo Wars video, complete color inversion, and whatnot) or if it would require some image manipulation programs such as a .gif creator, Photoshop, and the like. This is the part I'm most worried about since I have absolutely no experience with these sorts of programs.

And if you don't have any useful advice to offer, what Yahtzee imitators have you seen that seem to do a good job with this style? It might be helpful to see some "outside sources" in action. So far I've only seen WhistleBlowerZero's GameStop attack series and the guy who reviewed Trilby.

Try Inkscape. It's a vector drawing program - should be good for recreating Yahtzee's art style and making small changes to a scene. Plus, it's freeware, so no need to go all piratey.

I'm not even going to read you post. There's no point. The only advice I can give you is "don't".

Guys, he's doing it for a schooling project. It's hardly ripping it off for the sake of ripping it off.

You would have to do every movement and change frame by frame. He said it takes him over 200 frames on fullyramboltic. You need windows movie maker, Photoshop, and MS paint. You then need to record the dialog while the panels are playing. If you need then longer use 2 panels that are the same. It's very tedious and requires some decent drawing skills as well. you could always E-Mail him through his website and he way respond back with the technique.

If you have photoshop a colour invert is as simple as pressing Ctrl+i, and theres a simmilar shortcut in any imaging program. Anyway, to do this sort of animation just stretch out each frame to match the audio track - easy enough in Sony Vegas but if you have movie maker then i guess you dont have that too.. cant be too desimilar anyway.

People tried imitating yahtzee before and called it tributing, but Yahtzee mentioned in one of his sketches that he wanted to burn their houses down.

He's doing it for a school project?

That's even worse.
