For the last few weeks I haven't been able to force myself to sleep before 6am and I'm getting really sick of it. I'll be dead tired and out of nowhere I'll be fully awake and up for a couple more hours. Tonight for example, I barely had my eyes open all evening, I was in bed half asleep at one point. Then out of nowhere, it's 4am and I have no idea why I haven't been able to sleep. Anyone else here have sleeping problems or have any ideas I could try to get to sleep?

I don't have sleeping problems usually but when I absolutely can't sleep I

a) Have a warm glass of Milk

b) Get naked

c) Listen to classical music

It works for me, maybe it could work for you!

If you're currently still in school but on summer break, it makes sense.

Every summer break I always end up screwing up my sleeping cycle. It's really annoying to know that I sleep a good chunk of my day away.

But I just set alarms and have my girlfriend call me so I can fix it. It's been going alright so far.

I've tried just staying up all night and the next day and going to sleep at a normal time to try to fix the rhythm. Went to sleep around 10:30pm that night and the next night I was up until 7am again. I can see it being DSPS haha

Yea, I'm in school but on a break now, I'm also unemployed so I have no reason to get up in the morning, I'm thinking my sleep cycle got shifted because I'd be up all night playing games but recently I haven't bothered with any games and I'd find myself up all night doing nothing, even after I try forcing my sleep cycle back to normal

I have sleeping medication that I find completely useless because it always make me oversleep. You could try getting yourself into a relaxed mindset every night, or stay up for an entire day and then sleep at the normal time the next day - I don't really know how to explain it, but by that time you're so tired that you're able to sleep. The problem is how to remain awake until that 'normal' sleeping time. If it's really a problem for you, and nothing is working, then seeing a doctor might help, although they probably won't do anything more than give you medication for it. And it's not very good to rely on that as a way out.

I had tried staying up all night and the next day before a few times without luck. It doesn't help me. Usually I'm up till 6am-8am doing nothing and it doesn't matter how much sleep I get the day before or when I wake up, I'm always up till around those hours. The morning of the 17th I woke up around 11am (went to sleep about 6am) so I could get ready for the day, it was the first time I had something to do before 7pm in a month, and I went to sleep 7am on the 18th and the other night I woke up at 8:30pm after going to sleep around noon that day (yes, I really have been keeping a close eye on the clock lately haha) and I was still up till around 6am. My awake hours seem meaningless

Holy crap, I didn't know it had a name. Now, I can direct people to this page and I don't have to explain what's wrong with me anymore!

I find that tensing your muscles for a few seconds then relaxing them (starting at the feet and only a set of muscles at a time) helps relax me.

These are pretty soothing:

Hope that helps.
