I remember thinking that it was pretty unrealistic, but I didn't think much of it because not many games take the time to actually make that aspect even close to realistic.
Then I played The Last of Us, and the EXACT same injury happens to Joel, except if he didn't have Ellie, he would have died. He was bleeding out massively, and I loved that little section of gameplay. It put that part of Tomb Raider in a new, unflattering light.
