High school is nothing special, I think it's better than my middle school. You'll have great memories, but it will drag on once you reach day two.

Oh god. I just realized, I'm a junior now. Hm. Its kinda weird. Have fun, focus, and figure out which subjects you are worst at, and focus on getting them down. Also DO NOT under any circumstances, take high school for granted. Focus on completing it and figuring out what you want to do in life.

Freshmen Friday will be your favorite day...I promise. :)

Hmm, well that fabled trip into high school, well first tip, enjoy it because trust me it wont end forever, meet some friends however trust no one fully, and ALWAYS under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE Question Authority, because the administration, teachers, hell even some of the other staff will be doing things that on the outside may seem to be helpful to you but if you can read between the lines will most likely only be hurting you so that they make more money.

1). Don't break the High School's rules. I don't know if you're planning on going to college or anything but this is a critical point and being suspended or expelled will ruin ALL your future life plans.

2). I've seen a lot of people mention study habits. Follow them. As a college student that just finished his first year I can say that way you learn to study in high school will affect your study habits and thus your mark in college or any secondary school.

And have fun, carefully tho, not TOO much fun (refer to point 1). High School is as much about doing your schooling as it is making new friends, dealing with shitty teachers, and having your heart broken.

That said, Good Luck!

1. Actually, only care about the important things. Don't give two shits what the person next to you thinks about you. What they think won't really affect you in the long run.
2. Grades do and don't matter. Keep 'em up and all but don't go psychotic destroy yourself in one class. Spread out your abilities and don't get over your head.
3. Avoid alcohol... for now. When you are old enough to drink it, don't over do it. You will look like a douche bag if you drink too much, or one of those guys from "The Jersey Shore." no one wants that.
4. What really matters, above all else, is not necessarily extra curricular classes in high-school, but those that are in college. Face it high school sucks the big one.
5. Enjoy living with your parents now. After college you are on your own, for the most part. You will have to worry about living expenses and bills.
6. Speaking of college, if you like college, and it's for you, then finish on time. Don't bang your head into a wall and realise that college was just a waste of time and money.
7. Staying on that topic, the longer you are in college the more depressed, selfish, and hate filled you get.

Make sure that when you apply for college after HS, you pick a major that will actually be useful in the job market.
I wholeheartedly agree with this one. Once you get a major stick with it! Try to get a major in the job market, as mentioned above, and do your best with that. OOORRRR, go to a tech-school if college isn't your thing. Don't feel forced to go to college because eveyone else is.

Just like the headline said. Less than an hour ago, I was sitting on a stage being formally promoted from 8th grader to a 9th grader.
So. Now that that's out of the way. What do I need to know about high school?
I'm really bad about procrastination, so I need tips for that, too. But please, any helpful advice is welcome.

Also, I'm wearing an awesome tuxedo.
Middle School Sucks.

Also, since when does school finish at the end of May?
Well, it's technically not the end, but they're not taking attendance for the rest of the week. Also, I live on the Southeast Coast of America, so that might account for something

And thanks again for all the advice, I can't tell you guys how much it means to me.

Poster is probably a troll. Oh well.
Nope. Though now that I think about it, graduating isn't the right word for the context; I think they used the term promotion, but to Hell with it. You understood what I meant, right? I didn't mean to glamorize it, it just seemed like the best way to convey the message.

Besides, I'm an awful troll.

Also, now that I've finally gotten back around to reading these, I guess I should lay out my plans.
I want to go into the Army and become a commissioned officer, use the Army to pay for my college along with scholarships while majoring in Political Science. After several tours in wherever I'm assigned, I want to go into politics. Starting small, State Senator or something. While in college but before my tours, I want to serve as a page/intern to Senators.

Thank you for reminding me of my favorite Fallout 3 quote.
My serious advice, high school is a place for you to grow and mature, your opinions too change, think in different ways, etc, so never dismiss somebody, never create a definite opinion without a lot of learning. Basically, keep an open-mind.

High school is not as big and scary as you see in media, or as people tell you - academically or socially. You'll ease into it. Don't feel pressured, and do what you want to do.
Most importantly - have fun. Of course it sucks sometimes, but it's a great time to dick around with your friends.

How old is 9th grade? 17, or something?

You don't need a lot of friends. A few good ones will do.
