A couple months ago at my high school I got introduced to this strange sport called Lacrosse, I went to try it out and I ended up loving the game, to the point where I joined a club to play in a mens league. Now there isnt much of a Lacrosse community in my country (I live in New Zealand, Rugby is the big thing over here), so I thought I'd ask the members of my favourite website if any of them share my interest in Lacrosse. Any players out there? If so how long have you been playing, what position do you play, and what got you into the sport in the first place? I look forward to talking about this with people who reply. If anyone does that is.

Also a question to people who play, how good is Amazon for ordering gear internationally?

I played it at intermediate, live in NZ here, and it's pretty damn fun; wasn't like anything I've ever played before.

I remember playing when I was much younger, I quickly figured out how to throw it further than anybody else (instead of throwing it like a cricket ball, I stopped just before vertical) and I forget everything else about it.

I don't even think it's televised in the UK.

Yup, that's my lacrosse story.

While Hockey is declared to be the national winter sport of Canada,[footnote]and it is the first thing people say when thinking of Canada's national sport.[/footnote] Lacrosse is our national summer sport. Yeah. Some Canadians don't even know that.

As for the sport itself? A resounding meh for me. I never really enjoyed playing it and while I wouldn't mind watching a live game of it, I don't seek it out. Just never really got into it like some others have here in my hometown.

Like Redlin5 said Lacrosse is one of our national sports so it it fairly popular here. I personally never got that into it but it is a fairly popular game. I remember they wouldn't let us use proper sized sticks or the right type of balls at school when we were younger. I get the ball rule because those things are hard and could hurt someone but the stick thing was just lame.

I've been to a few games. I like the energy, I like how the music playing is actually a part of the game, and I think it's a fun thing in which to take part.

I don't, however, like being slashed in the shins over and over again, which is why I'd never actually play it competitively. I like watching it, though, and I wish it was on television more often.

I need to watch Archer again.
They reference Lacrosse a lot.

Literally the only time I've heard Lacrosse mentioned as a modern sport, and not something that certain groups of Native Americans play as part of their cultural heritage, was a high profile rape case involving some university's Lacrosse team. That's America for you, I guess.

I am starting this season. I will probably playing midi due to my size (Would die as an attackman and am not enough of a wall for defensemen). What got me into it is that it's bigger here than anywhere else in the world. And, when I say "here" I mean the north-east USA (Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, etc.). I wouldn't really know if amazon is really good internationally.

Some highlights between college teams:
