Blockbuster has filed for bankruptcy to be honest when sites like Netflix and Lovefilm happened this was bound to happen.

We all saw this coming. What with all the new ways to get movies and games, places like Blockbuster were bound to go out of business.

I for one am actually glad this ship sunk. The service was shitty, the employees were practically zombies after working there more than a month, their computer systems were outdated, and the upkeep of their merchandise was total shit.

I couldn't be happier.

Blockbuster are notorious for stocking clandestinely edited versions of movies with swearing, violence and nudity removed. Good riddance.

No surprise really, they were just too slow to adapt when the likes of LoveFilm and Netflix showed up. Here's to an awesome closing down sale at my local stores!

I wanted to work at the Blockbuster near me because it was so fucking quiet, my mate that works there just played Xbox behind the counter because no one ever came in. Ah well, hopefully they'll be selling lots of shit cheap, most games aren't even worth 10 fucking quid now.

I'd assume just in the UK, but the US version isn't faring much better.

OT: With places like Redbox and Netflix and several others popping up everywhere, this was bound to happen, they just could not adapt to the market. However, now I'm gonna forced to buy a Gamefly account just to rent games now, seeing as how my local blockbuster is gone.

I think that the UK section is a seperate company to the US

they are manage as different company, but i'm not sure how the bankruptcy will affect international operation. in canada for exemple, blockbuster is doing quite well, and make profits every years...

Surprised it took this long, it was probably the 90s the last time I actually went into a Blockbuster.
