Well the final episode of the Shield aired in the U.K. last night, bringing to an end a fantastic series which in my humble opinion has never jumped the shark. Including guests but never losing it's focus. The stories in each episode were like an onion not at all as my wife put it " an excuse for big boys to run round with guns and swear!"

Despite the absolute corruption of the central protagonist you still retained sympathy towards him, there was a feeling that he was constructing his convoluted house of cards in order to look after his family.

Ultimately he always stuck to a slightly warped moral code, which meant he kept drugs off the street and the innocent safe. What other series would have a one shot character in the final episode as deep as the man standing for mayor, the alternate plots featuring "Dutch" which were always a mixture of disturbing and very funny! Glen Close Forest Whitaker both who slotted seamlessly into the mythos of the show.

I think the thing that made the difference to other shows was the fact that all the actors seemed to really feel eveything they did, no one was just there for the paycheck.

My one criticism would be the shaky camera work, I thought on numerous occasions the cameraman has parkinsons. All of this capped off by an episode that stayed true to its morally bankrupt ethos, no cop outs!

Please feel free to discuss the series, oh and this is not a review per se
