I have an older model 40 gb ps3 which i upgraded with a 160 gb hard drive. Last night it got what i believe people refer to as the yellow light of death. The console doesn't turn on for more than a second when it suddenly turns off and the light on the fron turns yellow and then flashes red. does anyone know a way that i can fix this without sending it to sony? please provide a link or instructions, or any general advice. I'm pretty handy and i have plenty of tools and things like that so i can take it apart if necessary

I have mine apart as I type this. The same thing happened to my PS3, so I'm baking the motherboard again. I need to get my data off that PS3 and transfer it to my new one. Going to miss my backwards compatible PS3 though. Surely have a moment of silence for my Luna. <3
