So my Xbox 360 exploded.

The good news is the game inside and the hard drive were left unscathed. I'm considering getting a new one off of ebay. Also I played it for twenty minutes after not playing it for like a month.
Now the question is I'm asking of a review off of this because I want to see if anyone manages a reasonable belief either similar to mine or against it. Why here? That's because I find it familiar here.
Xbox 360: Significantly faster than the ps3, not just for games but also internet. Which also harms it at the same time, for the xbox doesn't quite have the graphic capability as the Ps3 does. It's also a pitifully designed cheap system that breaks or stresses over anything (this is based off the original before they decided to make somewhat functional hardware). I've an xbox for about five years, I've gone through four. Three got 3 RROD and I was a scared little child who had no idea how to work with that kind of stuff or wanted to lose warranty. This also took place in about 2 1/2 years. It took me to a point where I became infuriated and took apart the xbox and fixed it myself, It then lasted me 3 years till now that it decided to ignite into flames. Apparently the newer systems are significantly more trustworthy and I wouldn't mind giving it another shot, but I'm sure you can understand as to why I might be a bit upset.
On the outcome of this though I prefer the Ps3. It may run slower (but that's because it's trying to look nicer) and not have quite as many online capabilities or little ones (like playing music as you're playing a game). That being said though my brother has had the slim since release and he hasn't had a problem to this very day (the first slim).
Who knows, maybe my xbox committed suicide when it found out what game I put inside.

It all comes down to personal choice, I have both but I play my xbox probably ten times more than my ps3, due to the excellent online. And the fact that everyone I know plays it online. Also the free mics that microsoft gave out, was a stroke of genius. When you talk to people online (for me and my friends at least) you enjoy it more, on PS3 rarely do I hear talking and it makes it seem lifeless. Giving the mics away free was a major boon to the system.

I too have both, and I prefer the PS3. The exclusives are far better.

Waste-high shooter 4 and CoD clone 62 just aren't that great, where as Ps3 has some really great games on it.

Plus the online is free =D

Hey, my Xbox can do fucking gymnastics. It just does not give a fuck. I have seriously had that thing fall while running like five times and it still keeps running like a champ. My Fallout 3 however is lost forever to the foolish actions of a close friend. Who seriously adjusts a console while a game is running? Hilariously enough I've had other games survive worse though. My friend's Dead Space survived a three foot fall in the Xbox while it was running.

Each unto their own and all that, but I'd like to ilistrate my preference with a brief anecdote.

I had my 360 for a year before it RROD-ed on me, I didn't get round to phoning Microsoft about it before I was relived of it in a burglary. I got a new PS3 with the insurance money, 'they' got a 360-shaped paperweight. I know it's a whimsically supported argument, but 3 years later, with my PS3 sat proudly in my living room, I consider the whole saga a win for PS3.

My Xbox RROD'd last year after I'd had it for just under a year. Saying that, it was second hand (which meant that I didn't have warranty so I had to pay to get it fixed...). Touch wood, it's been fine since. Around the time it broke though I was seriously considering buying a PS3. I still want one, partially for the blu-ray player too. But with the next gen consoles coming out in the next couple of years I don't know if it's worth it. If my 360 dies again I'll probably get one (although it will suck to essentially lose all my achievements etc but oh well)....or if the Final Fantasy 10 remake looks amazing.

I have everything. I dont mean to flaunt it, im just saying i have all 3 consoles, and decent PC.

I love my xbox the most. Ive only had an xbox break on me once, and i own more games for it then the other two consoles combined. The upsides on the xbox far exceed the downsides to me. I mean, 60$ a year is nothing. Its skipping a cola every few days, or waiting till ice cream is on sale to buy it. You get everything a month earlier on it, your download speeds are several times faster ((sometimes more)) and the loading times are shorter.

Sure, the ps3 looks "slightly" better. And i stress slightly. I honestly cannot tell the difference between them unless their side by side, and even then i have to lean close and squint my eyes. "Oh, ok, its got 3 more pixels here and there...."

I like the PS3, dont get me wrong. But i play my PSP and Wii more often then it.

I stick by the Xbox, not because im a fanboy, but just because its a cheaper piece of tech, that in the end is just as good for your needs. I honestly think Halo has gone down the sh*tter. And i dont even want to play the new gears of war. They can go rot in the bargin bin for all i care. But when i feel like sitting down and hardcore gaming, i do it on my Xbox or PC, because the PS3 just doesnt fill the position like them.

I've had an arcade since launch, and it hasn't RROD'd or anything for the entire time, it may have overheated during the summer, but that's because I didn't have the airconditioner on. In comparison, my sister has had a PS3 slim for about 6 months now, and had to replace it a month in because it wouldn't turn on.

I am heavily in favor towards the 360, although that doesn't mean I don't play the Jak and Daxter HD collection from time to time.

It all really comes down to what you want.

I've got both but tbh, I've not touched my Xbox in months. I love my PS3, that's all. I've gone through 5 Xboxs and if Tales of Vesperia wasn't Xbox exclusive in this country I'd have stopped at number 3 when my Xbox CAME to me RROD'd. I tried everything to fix it but it literally just came broke...I threw it down the end of my garden in a fit of rage but *shrugs*. It was quite a while until I move onto number 4 but I had the urge to play Vesperia and had no other options but to buy it again...

I've had my Xbox for 4 years and i've never had any problems. I love it so much me and my brother bought another one to put in his room, so we can play co-op games together like Saints Row and we can play Left 4 Dead with two of us on splitscreen with someone else on the other. I think the exclusives are better on the Xbox and I just prefer it. Dunno' why

beeing a wii owner (yes I am, now deal with it) with friends who own the xbox360 and ps3 (no owns double but we play a lot on both) the 360 owners say that ps3 is a little better, the internet is "free" and also the exclusives (watheevr that is) are better according to them.
The only real reason the xboxers stay to their system is because they like the controllers better.
To sum up: xbox controller better, everything else slightly better in ps3 but no huge differences.

I like the PS3 better since the two Xboxes I've owed have both got cases of the Ringles. Xboxes just feel cheap.

That said, my PS3 pisses me off frequently. Like how I have to update it every couple hours, the lackluster PSN store (the store itself, not the titles) and the fact that it won't save multiple wifi settings (does Xbox?) ect.
It just hasn't committed suicide because I forgot to cuddle it before sleeping.

On a side note, I think it's odd that during the hardware changes of both systems the PS3 went from touch sensitive buttons, to normal buttons, while the Xbox went from normal (albeit shitty) buttons to extremely sensitive touch buttons.

I have never seen the point in a 360. I'm not starved for real life human interaction, so the lack of mic spam on the PS3 kinda seems like an upside to me, and I've had a PS3 since August 2007 and it has never once had a single problem, and none of my friends with PS3s have ever had an issue (except my cousin who got the yellow light of death once and got it quickly repaired).....while every person I know who has had a 360 has had all manner of hardware issues (as you yourself can attest), and the ones who didn't just say "screw this" and tossed the nonsense out are each on AT LEAST their 3rd or 4th 360.

Honestly, I think it's criminal to sell something so crappily made that the average customer can reasonably expect to have to replace it at least 4 times before the lifespan of the console cycle is even close to being over.

I still have an NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, 2x Game Boy Colors, GameGear, Dreamcast, 2x Wiis, 2x PS2s and 2 PS3s that are all still in perfect working order and at least semi-regular usage.
Literally the only console I ever had real issues with is my original XBOX.....so I never even felt inclined to consider the 360....and all evidence has continued to support that lack of consideration.

Out of ALL the 360 games there were maybe 2 exclusives that I wanted to play....and I think they're both on PS3 now....and I don't remember what they were. PS3 exclusives, on the other hand, account for about half of my PS3 games.


So yea, to ME the decision seems obvious. I guess it depends on how many 360 exclusives you absolutely adore, and how huge of a game collection you have sitting around that would go to waste if you abandoned the 360 altogether. *shrug*

How can you be through 4 xboxes? I've had the same one since 2006 I think(I got oblivion with it, when did that come out?) only had to have it repaired once for the mandatory RROD and they fixed it for free.

Still going and I treat it like shit, used to play it all day(until I got a job) in a hot room whilst it sat in a dusty corner.

I just want to say that on top of all the ancient consoles I myself own, my best friend owns a PSX (not even a PSone, but the original PSX), that has been flooded by root beer, Dr Pepper, salsa, and gods knows what else, and it never so much as flinched in its service.
Hell, we'd play all weekend long and sometime toward the end we'd switch discs and realise it had been running WHILE it had salsa in it.
The thing still works.
Looks like a train wreck, but it works.

Maybe you don't look after it. Of all my friends, myself included, who have had an xbox, the ones who have had theirs break on them failed to look after it.

I've had a 20Gb silver-tray Premium Xbox 360 since they released that model in early 2007. For about 2 years I was playing it 40 hours a week on top of school (too much, I know). It broken once on me in the past 5 years and that was just the GPU melting. The tray motor got finicky too but that's just tatty age.

Every 3 months or so I unplug it, carry it into the dining room, grab a hoover and suck all the crap and dust out of its air cooling vents. When I plug it back in I lay it flat and make sure all its vents have at least a foot or 2 distance of free space to grab as much cool air as it can. I dust it off every 2 months. This is how you look after it.

The friends of mine who have had problems have their consoles on the carpet, placed vertically. Usually wedged in by other furniture/objects and they never clean it off. They've gone through at least 2, some more, in the time I'm still on the same one. I bought myself the latest one in December for the bigger HDD and gave the older one to my dad, who uses it to play Tom Clancy games and squad-based tactical shooters.

It's all in your care of the product. If you want it to last, look after it. It's the same for anything really but even more for for electronics.
