So, now that you're a game designer...

What game would you create? You have the skills, the resources, and the dream. It's up to you to create that new big title smash hit. And what would that be?

I'd make a survival game set in the age of the dinosaurs. You can either play as a dinosaur or a primitive human and try and make a living for yourself out in the wild. If you were a human, you would have to chop down trees and make tools and build a hut (and maybe find a mate). You will have to hunt animals, then cook and eat them. You will also have to find water; however, you will have to decide if your food and drink are safe enough to consume, as they might carry diseases. Coming into contact with dinosaurs will mean almost certain death, and you will have to run away or try to kill it. If you are wounded, then you could slowly bleed to death or even lose limbs.

As a dino, your life is a bit simpler. You still have to find water and food, and battle other dinosaurs. This would probably be an 'easy mode' to the game, as you don't need to build a shelter and you are harder to kill.

So, what about you?

I'd make a game where you play as an Alien in a Mass Effect style universe. But you are not say, the strongest military, or brand new to the contact. You're status is far less than you'd expect.

Also, the game is set in one city, with Bioshock/Fallout 3/Halo styled shooting (I'd mix them to a degree that works). Health would be done in a completely new system, not recharging, not first aid kit based, not even the current mix that works well, especially not that retarded Space Marine health where killing things gives health instantly.

Also, you can carry a reasonable amount of weapons based on weight. So yes, in theory, you could carry 5 or 6 different pistols (We'd make different varieties of weapons for each race, including humans, and the other aliens.)

>A cinematic FPS where the colossi from SotC are invading NYC. Cloverfield, but with epic monster scaling, crazy stunts, and using things like CoD for good
>THE RETURN OF COLLECTATHON PLATFORMER GAMES
>a JRPG where you don't play as the hero, but just as another party member for a majority of the game to create feelings of envy in the player

JUST MADE THOSE UP!

already have a RPG I plan to turn into a demo this year.
it takes hints from Chrono trigger and gaming popculture if I had unlimited skill/funding I would make it in 3D instead of RPG maker. I would also hire Nobuo Uematsu for music and Akira Toriyama for the art.

I point you towards the White Knight Chronicles.

You mean where you play as Leonard and only create a mute party member to creep on the events? Not what I mean. Think the beginning of Xenoblade where you play as Shulk and Dunban hurts the Mechon and receives praise.

Also, WKC sucks

Basically, I'd make Cry of Fear: the Playable Edition. Or at least knick the main ideas (psycological horror set in Stockholm by autumn, which is more atmospheric than it sounds) and make something less... Hostile with them.

You're a random berk. You're out, about and getting drunk. Then, as you wait for a subway train, one painted an odd silver pulls up to the station. You take it. And then, everything goes weirder and weirder... With plenty of visits to the void-dimension.

And it would be as free of jumpscares as humanly possible.

I'd make a dating sim based on the 1956 movie The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston.
Bwahahaha! Cracked me up.

I'd make a gritty medieval combat simulator where you can travel solo and bounty hunt, deliver messages and duel dudes, travel in an army and fight in the shield-wall or as a cavalryman. There'd be minor RPG mechanics, like being able to raise your shield after a swing faster the more you'd do it or equipment which is mostly different aesthetically but somewhat alter speed, defence, range, cutting, thrusting or hacking. There'd also be intricate dialogue trees that preferably let you alter the course of the game world's history and siege live forts and castles, then replace the garrison with your own men and go out and conquer more territory. You could apply this to lots of situations too, like taking historically mysterious and mythified people like King Arthur, Germanicus or King David, casting you as that guy to set it in a wealth of places and ages. Or you know, build a fantasy world from the ground up.

Alternatively, a platformer where you play as the stage, trying to foil that pesky adventurer/hero with miscellaneous objects like birds, waterfalls and druidic death pits (or whatever those spike pits in every game world are there for.)

Okay, here's an Idea: It starts off as a 3-D Medieval game, where your a hero going to save a princess from an Evil King. On your way, you get a sword, a bow and arrow, and some bombs. After 6 levels, you finally arrive at the villains castle. As you finally arrive at the kings chamber, after going through an obstacle course incorporating everything you've learned, you are finally ready to beat the king...

... Suddenly, an odd, Space Invader Looking Alien travels through the castle from Portals. The king, Princess, and Hero are confused, then suddenly, the evil kings castle is torn apart as an alien space ship arrives and sucks up you, the princess, and the evil King. The rest of the game, you, the evil King, and the Princess have to get out of an Alien world that looks like it's 2-D (But is actually in 3D), with your weapons upgrading to represent the alien world your in.

The story progresses for these next levels (I'm thinking of 21 levels, with 2 bonus ones that don't completely matter); you learn the one Alien that traveled through the evil kings castle is a rebel who is trying to help his people free themselves from the tyranny of another alien race. He has agreed to get you out if you help him free his people. While you are freeing his people, you learn that the Evil King isn't completely evil; he's actually just a byproduct of the society he has lived in, a society that values strength and power, and capturing your wife is a symbol of strength. You also learn that the Princess is an uninteresting, vapid moron who has a penchant for 'naughty boys'. The Evil King and the Princess actually end up falling in love, and as the hero destroys the evil Alien overlord, the good Alien allows you to return to your home.

At first, you are supportive of the 'Evil' King and the Princess getting together and your about to leave, but then you remember that the Good King ordered you to rescue his daughter, and if you failed, you would be executed. Against your better judgement, you are forced to fight and kill the 'Evil' King and kidnap the Princess, who is now a heart broken, suicidal wreck. The story ends, after killing the King, tying and gagging the Princess up and carrying her back to her father, as she cries.
