I think they're all attention seekers. Do you email random people telling them your problems then eventually "needing to see a doctor and being so poor"? :)

Chain letters are like infomercials and those annoying breakfast TV adds. Even if there is some merit to what chainmail says, it is immediately robbed of it's value by the fact it is chainmail. One I got was about a whale slaughter in some bay somewhere in Finland (I think), and another was about 2 kids that murdered another kid and was a bit NSFW so I wont bother with details. Don't know if they are real, probably not.

I don't get many of those

Though apparently you Brits are willing to throw me money and trust funds for an exchange on my credit card information.

Who wouldn't trust a guy named MR. BENSON

Pointless crap, clearly wrong and barely based on fact.
I generally ignore them, occasionally I send an email back to everyone on the list with a link to either snopes.com or breakthechain.org saying that it's bullshit.

There's nothing worse than recieving a chain mail... to find ALL your friends have signed it. Stupid friends.

I get some that say "send this to 15 people and the love of your life will ask you out tommorow" and the kind where the emperor of botswana needs your credit card details to give you 10 trillion dollars, but nothing that sounds remotely believable. Although, there was one time when I was with my friend and a random girl, that I had never met before, came up to me and said that it was over and she never wanted to see me ever again. Very random.

I can generally outgun a sad-sack chain email letter with the true stories I've accumulated in my travels. Who needs chain spam when you've got real life?

I have the same feeling.

OP: 1 in 500 is real. Therefore all are deleted. I actually tho dont receive chainmails for ages now, I think everybody that used to dedicate their lives to chainmails is busy with farmville (mmm, one good thing about farmville).

The last one sounds like the Jamie Bulgar murder but I could be wrong. I once saw a chain mail involving him and how we should "spread the word and keep people safe" and shit.

I remember the massive trend of "repost this or your mum will die" chainmails. I used to re write them; "Your mum will die if you don't, your dad will get knocked over if you do, you will die if you look away. What you gonna do fucker?"

People are so stupid and gullible.

I make up my own "parody" ones. Eg:

A llama got run over the other day and if you don't post this to other people, he is going to come to your house and rape your dog.

Evidentially, I've never got one.

And I don't feel left out, for that matter.
I delete trash mail anyhow.

The implied extortion of behavior is rather unsettling to me.

Largely, chainletters include a component warning that a failure to do as the letter says, will result in 'misfortune.' That is a causal statement linked to my behavior!

*rolls his eyes*

Chain Mail upsets me, because it is sometimes sent by people I know. I then send an angry message to them because of it.
