Iyyer you cheeky lads+ gals. How're you all doooin?

Mkay, so, I've been looking at Napoleon: Total War aaand...it looks pretty good. But I've never actually played any Total War games...so meh, I was thinking of getting it.

Thing is, with the release of Shogun 2, I'm thinking I might get that...but I could imagine that they are very different games.

SO, BASICALLY-

-What do you think of Napoleon: Total War
-What do you think of Shogun 2: Total War

And which one should I get?

Cheers guys<3.

Forget about Total War and come taste the soup[footnote]I'd go with Shogun 2[/footnote] with me and Gerard Depardieu:

Shogun 2 by far, the AI is great and who doesn't want to command armies of samurai?

Shogun: Total War was the first of the series and thus the first one I ever played, after playing its long awaited sequel I say go for it; its badass

My computer can just about run Rome: Total War, so neither for me.

If I could, I would get Napoleon without a doubt, simply because I am very interested in that era, and not even remotely interested in Shogun's era.

I haven't played either, I didn't like Empire so I didn't get Napoleon. I haven't bought Shogun 2 yet, and I think I'm going to wait a bit to make sure it's good (at least 2 weeks). But I can recommend some other games.

You should Medieval 2: Total War first. After playing it for a bit, get the Kingdoms expansion. If you get bored with those, move on to Stainless Steel (drastically improves the core game) or Third Age: Total War (as in, Middle-Earth's Third Age).

Alternatively, you could get Rome: Total War (which is the game before M2 [Shogun and M1 were the first two]). The Barbarian Invasion expansion is pretty fun, but I've heard Alexander isn't anything special.

Get Napoleon if you like ranged slugfests. Get Shogun 2 if you like samurai slugfests. Get M2 if you like melee slugfests and cavalry laying waste to all. Get Rome if you like killing everything with legionaries (or horse archers).

Been playing shogun 2, it doesn't hold the appeal of Rome for me, where I can just play for hours upon hours, but maybe that's because I haven't really broken into it yet. That said, I couldn't stand Empire, never played Napoleon.
